Alright Mark. Not much change in quite a few days. I think it has played itself out.

Yeah. You know. If you think of it, there aren't too many of us playing in these games. Its just that those of us who ARE playing are playing in several ones.

I'd say there are about 20-25 of us. not more.

Hopefully not a dying race (no pbem in CTP II !)

But on the other hand - then we has no excuses to leave these games

What who cares? Cares about what you mean?

I'm not being sarcastic. I mean, who cares how long a PBEM game takes. Is it going to make a difference to a game designer? If so, then I think this is important. If not.... who cares?

The time a PBEM game takes to be finished depends on the kind of PBEM. Deathmatches can take from 1 month to 3 or even more under certain circumstances. Regular PBEM games if not die early takes far more than Deathmatches. I personally have played to 3 Deathmatces that have ended within 1-3 months but regular PBEM seems to be endless. I think in a big map with 5-6 players it would take at list a year (I hope so ).

I'm in Monkey1 and Monkey2 which are both regular starts with originally 8 players. They started in october 1999 and are still running.

I personally think noone would mind the PBEM games to go a bit faster, say to finish them in some 4-5 months, but it doesn't happen, alas.

                      I would add:

Only a few games will stop before CTP III is out WITH decent PBEM options. That would be about year 2003-2005.

When CTP II dosn't have this, why should we stop - try to finish - or (this is not nice) even think to buy CTP II?

SP is good, but it cannot be compared to MP or better PBEM.

The PBEM games with CallToPower could take just as long time as we want - just look at Craptivisions statement on CTPII-general.

No PBEM, no more pathces than the half they already shipped - no nothing more.

Glad I didn't buy that game.

Not even the "popular" MS$ do things like this.

And for their games - they are following the games up with patches (I remember many bugs in AOE, specially in MP online games - but they (most of them) were patched as soon as the bugs was confirmed).
