i'm lokking for some linux - players.

I'd be down with that. I have both Linux and Windows CTP.

I suggest a game with 3 - 6 players, and maybe some type of accelerated start. Im not sure how many players you'll find here if you need more players, you can probably find them on Loki's CTP newsgroup.

      Count me in

I think if we have more then 3 players we should have accelerated start. If we only get three players it willn't matter so much 4 might be doable depends on game speed.

Well that depends on what we want.

Dutcheese: Is applicable if we want to start in the late renisance(sp).
You get 10 cities, 2 musketeers per city, alot of gold and PW.

Semi: Is applicable if we want to start in the late ancient. You get 5 cities, 1 Phalanx per city and alot of gold and PW.

Stavros's: I believe he made a mod which only creates 3? settlers at the start of the game, but Im not sure.

APQS: A quick start for the apolyton pack, with both a 5 city and a ten city start.

I think I would prefer to use Stavros's and if we want it's not to hard modify to add PW or gold or Phalanxes or whatever. I prefer not to accelerate it to much as it appears that we won't have that many players.

i agree the three settler quickstart is good.
some gold and basic advancements either.
            further settings to discuss about:
            wet 1
            warm 4
ocean 3 -> enough space for need of water units
            sland 6
            uniform 4
            goods 3

whats about to start the game if You already have the "three settlers scenario"?
again, every settings will be good for me.

                    hi Chickenbrain.
                    i´m always interested in a new linux-pbem.
lets try to find some others.
i prefere a accellerated start with some settlers and some money.
i also will post a call for players on this fast news server nntp://sunsite.dk/sunsite.pbem and on lokis.

´hope to see you on the earth, once will be created for us.

                      Hi dattler,
greetings to you. I´m glad to find annother player who´d like to play an PBEM game. My favourite wouldn´t an accelerated start, because i like the beginning. Especially, if there are players who begin to compete in the early centuries. But everything you want, except of a game, where we don´t have to invention the first things.

Thank you for posting in the newsgroups, you know why. Please inform me about the results.

                      Regards,
                      Chickenbrain

hi, playing by e mail with the regular game start is not a nice thing. it is no fun to move one settler around and waiting for the first unit when you built your city. I think these games are dieing soon.
i´m in combat at turn 28. we started with one settler.now i have three cities. and four warriors. and we are playing four month now. yes, i got a bad tarrain , but this could be more interesting.
three of five settlers with 10.000 gold are a good start, i think. if you like we can start just with agriculture, mining and irrigation.
but lets wait what the others say, if anyone will be interested.

Hmm, that may be a problem. But, what size of map did you choose. I´d prefer to play normal size. The smaller the map the faster you´ll meet enemies. Or allies of course. And i like the sort of game, where you have to fight your enemies from 2000BC to 2000AC. Maybe not the whole time, but i think you know what i mean. Nothing is more boring, than an iland for myself.

One player i thought i ´ve foud just told me his Linux-Box is broken down. Impressing.

                            hi Chickenbrain,
i´m with you concerning the map size, a small map is the best. we will meet soon and have to conquer for settling area.
just for information: my linux box is working since month, just one day delay for updating my x-server. just some delays because of vacations and i-providers.

would you also be interested for subbing someone in a ongoing game?

                              Yeah,
i'd like to continue somebody elses civilization, if it is not to bad of course. We can search for more players in the background anyway, can't we?
