  • AI in Multiplayer games

    Hello,

I have played a few games of CTP multiplayer over a LAN against two Human opponents and the rest Computer players. We have all noticed that the AI powers are much weaker when we play Multiplayer than they are when we play at the same level in the Single Player version. It is so poor that the game is scarecely worth playing as the Computer players are so bad. We can reach gunpowder and 8+ size cities while our opponents has scarcely built more than half a dozen tiny settlements. This is not the case with the Single player version where it at least tries to keep up.

Is this a known feature or what is going on? We play with a fairly late patch (but I cannot recall the version).

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Cheers.

In a MP game the AI starts with the same number of settlers as the human players. Depending on level, they get more advances or less. The AI does get 200PW on any level King and above. The main reason for the AI doing bad in MP games is the human players get the first civs, and better start positions. Your best bet is to play at diety level. Even if you do not play single play at diety, it gives the AI a better chance to remain competative for a longer time.
