Religion gives Theocracy which is by far the superior choice of government for the first two ages. The other research alternatives are weak, IMHO, for various reasons.

Well it gives us the possibility to research Theocracy, but still what are the alternatives. Without proper information I can not do the right decission. So again what are the alternatives, what are their perspectives and what are the perspectives of Religion in detail. Otherwise I must say no.

I don't reveal anything now, that my best (read worst) opponents dosn't know already.
Turn 0 I always change my research to religion if available, thereafter theocracy. And of course, I use my (normally) two warriors to seek for ruins, hoping for a city/settler or an advance to get to my first objective as fast as possible. I even offer growth (grassland/normal seatiles) to get extra gold from a tradegood for science if possible - until I have theocracy.First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win.
