I vote to settle here. We have a river and we are in a forest. Both will provide us with enough production and growth for our early devolpment.

I say explore the river. If I know my CtP, theres a sea nearby... unless this is a very long river.

I vote to move onto the river (one or two squares) then settle next turn. The extra food, production, and gold from the settled square as well as the worked square is important in the beginning.

Frozzy, we'll get to the sea, if there is one, soon enough with extra settlers. We shouldn't have to worry about barbarians until turn 20 (3000 BC) or if we hit ruins (unless the awesome aips is different than the standard game).

Wouldn't it be benificial to have a fast growing capital though?

I agree with quinns. Step up to the bend in the river. Then see whehter it would makes sense to go sw or se another step. In any case build that city next turn.

We should build on the corner of the river. we cant afford to move more then once.

No. This is a common mistake, IMO. Don't do that!

Rivers give two movement, even when you just step onto one. However, when you even move 0.5 of your points, you cannot settle.

I suggest we move 2 tiles.

If you havn't settled yet - move one step S or SE.

With some luck, we get more rivertiles for our capitol.

Move on to the corner of the river so we get a better view. Then we may have a better idea of which way to go
