  • What mods can we use?

There are some mods for CTP1 out there but I don't know how many and exactly what is out. As far as I know there is:

    Harlan's Mod Pack
    CD's Mod
    Apolyton Pack
    Med Mod
    Nordicus Alternative Trade Goods
And my Small City Mod 2 add on that actual needs a small update.
And of course the dafault unmodded game

So what are the advantages and disadvantages of all these options and if I forgot some improtant mod please post here.

    MED MOD!!!!

I love med-mod. Great mod, IMO.

No real disadvatages... except for the odd coding error.

What is the odd coding error? And do you know any other possible mods that could we use. Note that Nordicus' and my mods are rather add ons and not mods and not standalone mods. So did I missed one of these add on mods?

So what is the advantage of the origianal game over Med Mod, Apolyton Pack, CD's Mod, etc...

Note that this thread is not a poll just a place for brain storming in order to get to know all the options we have.

I see. I like original rules because then everyone is on the same track. Mods to me are like Chess or Poker variants -- only a select small group play the variants but the majority of people play using the original rules. I'm sure the mods have their advantages over the original in some ways, but I think the standardization outweighs the benefits of the mods. Just my opinion.

                I agree with Quinns.

We're playing CtP, not MedMod CtP.

                Play the original.

I think we are missing a serious point here, the AI. Unmodded, the AI sucks monkey balls. The only challenge I get from it anymore is when they start with 5 or more settlers and over 500,000 gold. Yet still the AI can only defeat me with alien life. There was a small discussion about having more than 1 president and play in a PBEM fashion, but I think we will have to wait for our community to grow first.
Quinns, I agree with you that an unmodded game will go well because "everyone [will be] on the same track. " But MedMod does have its problems too. Namly people are not as familur with its tech tree, units, wonders, and city improvments. Also there is the absents of Constitutional Monarchy. Froz did you fix that on yours? And, if I am not mistaken, most of the above mentioned mods are combined in MedMod.
I could play the game with or without mods. That is my final answer
So one guy turns to another guy and says "T.A.I." His friends says "What?" He responds by saing "Think about it;)"

Nimrods point is taken. I suggest we use Awesome AIPs (IIRC, thats what makes the AI so good in MedMod).

However, I think we should conisder pushing the game engine to its limits. Give us 16-32 civs, rather than 8 or less.

Maybe each "part" could control more than one civ - just as we do it in the game "The Great Alliances"? Then the AI would just be a little noise in the background anyway.

And I know for sure, that even with the MedMod, the AI isn't capabel using carriers, making invasions (from sea) or use nukes/cruise missiles.

Edit: It would also give us the oppotunity, to make revolutions, breaking a greater pagt of nations from each other if the number of players grows and/or some players during the time can't agree upon anything.
First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win.

                            stronger AI"s
I heard a loud voice, I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! It's rider was named Death, and hades was following close behind him. They were given power over one fourth of the earth to kill by the sword, famine and plague.

To all who said no mods: I suggest Awesome AIPS at least. The AI is moot with no mods, and Awesome Aips makes this a lot better.
