A ship at sea is its own world. To be the captain of a ship is to be the unquestioned ruler of that world and requires all of the leadership skills of a prince or minister.

Moving 3 horse archers in foxtrot to tile 2-2 of Fort Sierra. They gain nothing sitting in the city, moving allows them access to either front, or Echo, if needed.
Poprushing the settler was to all plans anyway, so will do that.
Propose emptying the capitol of it's chariot southward. Can fill in police later.

Further propose moving the southern spear 8, the axe 7, and the archer in Lima 2.
This creates a killing field if Sarantium moves onto our gems near foxtrot.
Near lima, the idea would be to deny the high ground. Though, I'm not entirely sure that's possible.
Also: 2 chariots (one from capitol, and one in foxtrot) could be upgraded. The one in foxtrot is especially important if we want to ensure the killing field on the gems.

Chariot from cap heading south is OK. it doesnt need police right now(happiness=7>5)
Foxtrot needs a axe placed in queue after the spear, or an archer for later upgrading.
Axe\spear outside FS could head for port lima and begin building up fortification bonuses
I dont get the killing field part. Wouldnt their spearmen mostly shield the stack from horse archers? Need to run this through combat odds sim and see if it is a killing field
Note every horse archer upgraded, is a crossbow upgrade lost, for now

Alternative killing field-move axe 1, spear 9 and let the sarantiums choose to move to either gem\horse. The axe\spear can then assist without river penalty

Another thing im looking at is the overall road\tactical situation between fort sierra\foxtrot\port lima. Due to the abundance of cover-mostly hills, but its still 25%-units we have access to right now would require superior numbers to root the attackers out(meaning sarantium stacks are basicly invulnerable for now on hills outside our cities). There seems some chance sarantium could cut off the road access to both port lima\foxtrot and attack fort sierra with the combined stack with no real way for us to stop them. Imagine if the invading stacks were on the hills outside lima\foxtrot, and had just cut roads. Now they can move towards FS and use chariots to keep cutting the roads. Our troops, even if they could hold lima\foxtrot, could not catch up and FS would likely fall(and AB too) The stacks can easily get to those hill\roads, they have good cover all the way and putting garrisons on the hill\roads would weaken the cities too much
With crossbows we should have the strength to defend all 3 cities at once from the stack(the horse archers can move to support any one city, also)
Killing the foxtrot stack would allow a focus on the lima stack and allow us to avoid machinery. But, i would still like machinery in any case to extract some sweet reparations from sarantium...and they still owe us mathematics IIRC AFAIK.
We will just have to wait and see the situation next turn and decide on machinery then.

Horse archer 2 attacks, likely axe. 70 ish chance
Horse archer 3 attacks, likely other axe, 77ish chance
Horse archer 4 attacks, likely wounded spear or chariot, good odds either way.
Now we have a wounded spear or chariot and 2 archers left to kill, and 2 spears, 1 axe, and an archer to do it with. Bye bye, Sarantine stack. Cost to us, 1 horse archer likely one other sacrificial troop, and lost gems.

Eh?
I'm talking moving our blocking axe 7, onto the ponies, and the scout spear 8. There would be no river penalties for either.
If we moved any other way, the spear would be unable to assist next turn.

We got a nasty email with the save. Essentially they said screw it, and won't have peace till we pay reparations for all the damage our units on rent did to them.
So, we need to research math -> construction. And grabbing the library will make that a lot easier. Catapults, not crossbows, will allow better asset recovery. IMO.

I misread your numbers on this
I'm not sold the crossbows are needed, frankly.
Neither am I, now. Still it is a very large military advantage.
That said we still need the sarantium stack to head into the gems. With them delaying the attack it should be possible to hold without xbows. It seems to hinge very much on destroying the foxtrot stack. If that succeeds there should be no problem stopping the attack. I think it needs to be seriously considered that sarantium will keep their heads and stick to the rough terrain. In that case we could need troops to hold all 3 cities in the scenario described in post #9.

I'm beginning to wonder if the northern stack is not a defensive stack to rebuild the lost city (it's a fair spot) and the southern stack is heading to the Horde.
