    Ok.

We've done ok so far. Could have been better, but hind sight is 20-20.

We are well placed to handle either the Horde or Sarantium on a limited scale war. If both joined in a 'remove Merc' situation, it would get bad later.

The Horde has made errors in delaying expansion and workers and will not be a great threat for a little while. Sarantium is ready to explode, but is limited by terrain.

Our third city is going to cause some maintanence issues, and the 4th even more. IMO, ideally we need 5 cities down for our core, 1 near the pigs/fish, 1 near all the lux down in the jungle. Backfilling can happen later.

Sierra is an excellent production base. Alpha Base is really kinda ugly in my mind, so you builderers will have to tell me how to best utilize it.

We will have Iron so clearing the Jungle isn't an issue. With an open border, we will get religion.

Next tech looks to be Metal Casting to make the most out of the gold (and maybe gems) and to further boost the production edge we have.

IMO short term goals (1-25 turns):

Prepare one city to poprush the forge (or whatever it's called for metal casting) ASAP after MC is finished and begin working an engineer immediately. 20 turns later we'll have a Great Engineer. This gives us an opportunity to consider a wonder here. I don't know, but I'm guessing Metal Casting is going to take 20-30 turns or so.

During this time we need to get another settler out of Alpha Base, perhaps a boat, and POSSIBLY even a library

    Medium Term (25-50):

Gold is going to become an issue, and therefore so is research. Libraries in Alpha Base, pig city, and whatever goes on the west coast near the luxes will allow us to research via specialists if needed.

Next techs to consider after Metal Casting, assuming tech trade with Sarantium:

Masonry for hooking the stone, building walls, possible pyramid grab
Working toward Calendar to hook the lux, helps on the happy and gold situation.
    Sailing to start exploration
    Drama for theaters *
Literature for possibly grabbing the great library

We should have boundaries well defined and hopefully finished with the Horde. Exploring the waters for both island sites and other civs should become a priority.

    Long Term (50-75)

    Backfilling, specializing our cities.
    Creation of a super city*

*Theaters will cost 1 pop with us being creative. I VERY STRONGLY reccomend we pop them EVERYWHERE ASAP. At the least, in 6 cities (think it's 5 for this size map) to enable the Globe Theater, and I think it should be built ASAP.

We are going to face a constant happy situation. The Globe Theater will enable us to build at least one very large city. I'll leave you builderers to figure where, but this needs to be where we compete for wonders, what with our constant happy problem due to our nature making it inconsistant to rely on trading lux. So, it needs to be able to grow and produce. Ideally it would have good gold production too.

Sounds pretty solid to me. Only problem is, we need to maintain peace with Sarantium to be able to build so much; and at a minimum for how we come out of this current crisis, I don't think we can afford to lose the Horses, even if we have to give up gems or somesuch. They're valuable through Cavalry, we can't rely on importing such a long-term military resource...

Re: AB, its main advantage is that it has a wealth of food. Short-term, that can make it an actual production monster - pretty much every settler and worker we produce should come from AB so that we can convert the food surplus to hammers. Long-term, it is the ideal location for specialists (maybe for that first Forge and the Engineer you mentioned?). What to do with its terrain isn't quite as easy, but I think due to the unfortunate limitations of its grassy area, we have no choice to start Cottaging its area. Which isn't horrible; it's a good long-term investment, that will be raking in the commerce later in the game so long as me can make it that far.

Don't use the B word. No plan of mine can ever be associated with the B word.

The only thing I'll admit is CIV forces one to engage in some amount of builderering in order to be a proper warmonger.

Thankfully, warlords is a little less.
