Turn 44 - 2280 BC

So, this turn:
-Research needs to be decided
-Spear fortifies? worker probably needs more protection, and with the road built it will be able to move back to fort Sierra in a single turn.
-Our axe is now in the area of the bear, and its target hill. Assuming the bear is not spotted, move it 3 to the hill it was originally going for?
-The scout: I'm thinking 2-2? If the lion is next to it, possibly all the better; no better place to make a stand than a forested hill.

Did you get a shot of the demographics by any chance?
The axe...
I would argue 3-3 might be the optimal target for him, it SHOULD remove all fog form that corner, making the only place we need to worry about barbs is due south.
The scout, 1-1 would be safe from the lion.Last edited by UnOrthOdOx; October 3, 2006, 17:02.One who has a surplus of the unorthodox shall attain surpassing victories. - Sun Pin

If the axeman goes 3-3, we'll have one tile of fog 6-6 from the axeman's current position (8-8 from its proposed position).
The scout would defend with strength 2.75 against the lion on a forested hill. The defense would likely leave it victorious but damaged, prompting us to rest it. We may, however, be reaching the time when the scout will face frequent attacks no matter what we do. If we think that to be the case, then we should choose the best defensive positions in keeping with our goal of exploration.

I wasn't sure if that tile would be fogged or not, not entirely sure how coastal sight works in that particular situation in CIV.One who has a surplus of the unorthodox shall attain surpassing victories. - Sun Pin

AB will soon produce its own axeman, leaving both cities protected. So I'm not too worried about the Horde having good reason to try to use its archer. But I am worried that they may try anyway. They have their scout up north already; why bring in an archer?
For the scout, I'd say 1-1 or 1-2. While I'd feel good about winning a battle against the lion on that hilltop, it would force our scout to pause to heal.

11 on the scout.
Yes, still move 3 with the axe. And let them slip by without a problem.
In fact, I'm half tempted to invite them. Yeah, a friendly note letting them know there's a bear up in them parts and they're welcom to join our axe on the hunt.
I want them to see the axe, I want them to see it's not running to protect Sierra. I want them to know their archer is insignificant. Above all I want them to know we are well aware of the Horde tactics of rushing, and prepared to easily brush such a clumsy thing as an archer rush/squeeze aside, and they best be turning their attention to Sarantium. One who has a surplus of the unorthodox shall attain surpassing victories. - Sun Pin
