I see other teams less likely to attack each other (and require our services) on a large map. If they've already got plenty of room they might just sit back and go after other victory conditions (leaving us sitting around twiddling our thumbs). Plus as some have stated Large maps may not run on all machines.
On a Small map I would specify a preference towards low sea levels to compensate some for the cramped quarters.
I could be persuaded to bump Large to 2 and Random down to 1 (for a price) .
