We also need to do a review on city naming - we need one city name (for that city in northern tundra) and Maniac also said the old ones should be reviewed too (Nanjing should be renamed since it is incorrect in translation, being "Southern capital" as opposed to "Northern capital", Beijing).

Perhaps rename Beijing to Yangjing?

I was wondering about strategy to circumvent the world. it might be, either south or north there is no passage between oceans. However I noticed, it is enough to reach certain close longitudes, not necessarily caravels need to see each other.

Possible Chinese city names are of course endless. The issue I assume is you guys knowing them or being able to remember them.

Perhaps use some Hive base names? The Hive and Plex Anthill would be my two favourites.

Or translate some Chinese city names into English? Eg name a city "Double Fortune" = Chongqing.
