  • Turn 61: 1600 BC

    EDIT: Turn report

    - Barracks done, Axe in 1 turn
    - Obelisk in 3 turns
    - Library 10/90 hammers, should whip at 25/90 for best exploitation (we'll have 1 turn of Colossus before Library whip)
    - Scout moved south, jungle ahead; Vox warrior moving south too.
    - no changes in graphs, but someone's catching up with us in food output.

How about running 90% science until we get the library and switch back to 100?

Not bad, haven't thought about it in this aspect.
It would certainly allow us to squeeze out a few beakers more.

To elaborate on this notion, how about now running a high enough money surplus, so that after we built the library, we can run 100% science spending until we have Machinery?

That would delay Alphabet meaning the gap between it and GE will be smaller, and we wont be able to get Monotheism timely enough or even Masonry if we fail to trade for it.

Calculations should be in place, how much we need to save, so we can balance between slowing research too much and gaining enough for prolonged full science period.
I doubt we can save enough for the whole Machinery research though - after all we'll be founding more cities.

We should asap get to know the ETA for GS Masonry research. Though if I understand correctly there's no point in having Masonry before we can build the Pyramids right?

What's with Monotheism again? Do you want to research that between Alphabet and Machinery? I guess it should be easy to determine the turns we need to research Monotheism.[/QUOTE]

There is - if we schedule the deal at GE ETA - Masonry research time, we can immediately start researching Masonry if the deal does not happen and still finish it in time to build Pyramids.

Yes, that's a good tech (Judaism + Org Rel) if Judaism not claimed and basically the only thing apart from Drama we could research in the time between finishing Alpha and getting GE.
It's 171 beakers, so if we manage to run Library full steam, which is 29-30 beakers/turn, we can finish it in 6-7 turns, but add 1 'empty' turn right after Alphabet which we will have to spend on Drama as tech exchange allowing Monotheism will only happen during the transition to next turn.

Could we not replace that empty turn with one turn of 0% science spending? While we may just be able to research Alphabet before we run out of money, we'll have to lower research spending after that anyway, no? Better do it now then.

Yes, we can replace that empty turn with 0% science - will net us some 25 gold, enough for sustaining 100% research for some 8 turns or 90% research for the whole Machinery time (I suspect we'll be going in minuses with 90% too), good idea!
