    • Still, I think they're kinda reluctant to answer..

Maybe we should ask them about Sailing (telling we didnt realize at first)?
We should make all effort to have that commerce as soon as we can.

      • I'm not sure. We could easily add Sailing to the tech deal, but I don't want to give things for free to GS. They don't have any tech we don't have, so they can't really pay back. The only option I see for them is to change their techs again. Delaying construction and either research sailing in between or research something of equal value as sailing (if that exists) and offer that as payment.

However, I don't think there is any tech which
*) costs +/- the same as sailing
*) we do not have yet
        *) they can research
As such, I think they switched research to sailing, and will hold off answering untill they have sailing themselves.

        • Another possible explanation is that GS and Bananas are discussing a common position, that kind of thing takes time.

          • A couple probable solutions:

1.We could offer them a different deal: Currency + Sailing for Contruction + IOU cleared + maybe some gold (if the deal comes in their favour)

2.We could ask them for IOU in exchange for Sailing, to be paid back in gold once we get Currency.

              --------------------------------
              Hello again from AC!

We have to apologize that we forgot that possession of Sailing by both civilizations is needed for the trade link to be fully formed from both sides.
We therefore offer a deal that goes: Sailing for our IOU once we get Sailing and later we can decide the exact deal about Construction.
We now have decided to take Currency as our next technology. Maybe you're interested in Currency for Construction deal?

              Your friends @AC

                • Thanks, I wonder if we should also include information that we plan to take CoL after that (as we'll get considerable bonuses in researching it) and ask if they're interested to research Monarchy (which we could exchange for CoL with them).

                  • That might be a little too much in the future. If they have to talk/discuss/decide/... about that too, it will delay the answer to our open borders / sailing proposal.

If we don't get any response before we get next turn, I say we poke nye with a pm and ask whether they've recieved message and are still discussing it.
