  • What is our game plan?

How do we want to play? Do we want to win? How do we define a win for us? Is it conforming to one of the standard victory conditions or is it placing our cities so it writes a rude message when you scroll out to globe view?

This is a brainstorming thread for long term strategies and shorter term tactics that we may utilise during our game.

I'd be in favour of simply winning but I'd have fun if we wiped a team or two out the game. If we could find likeminded allies to do this with, so much the better.

Its already been said that we should get the Great Lighthouse and Colossus wonders. I'd be in favour of this as its somewhat unusual and more interesting than the standard oracle slingshot. If we go seawards early then we could drop a great merchant on someone, mass upgrade chariots to horse archers and wipe out the Bananas. Maybe.

A good trick for China is getting an early Machinery by using a Great Engineer. What methods may be used to do this?

I would go for making a strong economic Civ that has an advanced military to protect itself from Barbs or others and NOT play the conquor game.

Quality of the Civ before victory utilizing technology.

This would lead to a social victory if we play our cards right.

Oh come on, you can have your happy buildathon in a single player game! This is a chance to crush spirits that must be seized!

I'm not budging on the space race victory, the rest just follows from that If we could get techs by conquering cities then it would be different of course..

If nothing happens except playing simcity, the interest of the team will vanish and we will fail. Interesting things must be happening.

As for gameplay, we should use the AC-wisdom "exploit your strengths instead of compensating your weakness". For us this means quality over quantity: heavy gold oriented play for rapid tech-research, wonders to produce even better quality. Forges are cheap for us, they will help us to get atleast some quantity.

Of all our oponents, The Horde is the only one we're not yet sure about wheter they have an ocean based city or not. All other civs are landlocked for now. So, for some early goals to go for, I'd say :
            -> securing some copper
-> building the great lighthouse and/or colossus

We don't have a religion currently (and neither do the bananas), so we will have to find an other way of expanding the culture borders for our next cities.

I didn't think of it that way. I've no problem with killing people, I just don't think it fits into our strengths and so shouldn't be the basis of our game plan. At least unless we get Cho-Ko-Nu early enough.

I'm all up for Chuking someone when we are at the peak of our UU induced power. I'm a builder at heart and like crushingly onesided war efforts that I fight one handed whial continuing my Economic growth.

I can see the team got pretty active. I hope to get a job soon, so I can finally get a machine with T&L not burning my semiconductor wonders...

The only civ with a war advantage over any of us are the Horde!

I don't have T&L and Civ4 works fine for me with the latest patch. (Just don't play on large maps. ) Have you tried to see if it works recently?

yes, and I have graphics problems. it just overheats. This is combination of game engine requirements with neglected graphics chip cooling - virtually not existing. This is known problem for the Fujitsu model I use. So I need a new machine

Are there heatsink systems for laptops?
I could try a piece of copper with thermal grease. that's an idea. However, believe me, opening the Fujitsu notebook is PITA
