  • City placement

I think we have enough information that we can start planning our city locations now.

Heres a quick paintjob illustrating what I think are all plausible city locations. Note that I'm biased towards securing resources, grassland squares and act as if I'm a Creative civ. Could someone compensate please?

I'll try to state my reasoning.

1, 3 and 4 are barriers to Banana expansion.
2 and 6 are filling in gaps.
5 and 7 are by the marble.
8, 9, 10 and 11 are trying to secure resources.

Personally, I like 3, 7 and 10 but it makes our expansion look helluva thin.

The scout also needs to remove that black splodge by the marble, I think theres another city location there.

    I certainly like number 3.
The global area around number 7 and 10 is also good.

Before we have a settler though, copper will be revealed (in 6 turns), that will probably change the favourite locations around a bit.

And we might learn the location of the Banana capital, thus know how important it is to race to the eastern resources.

I like 3 as well, its got 2 strong growth resorces but if we want to persue Collosus/GLH we want to go for more coastal Cities and place next to the wheat on the coast, then use site #2 to fill the gap.

5,7 need more exploration and diplomacy before a desision can be made

Dont like 9 or 11 but 10 is good, I was also thinking of the Hill SW of 10, it has most of the same resorces and dosn't leave any tiles unworked.

I was thinking of the hill sw of 10, for the coast and the plains hill.

Given our game plan we are better off concentrating on coastal locations first and growing in.

However cpper and the bananas could radicaly change these guesses so I wasn't worrying about it yet.

3 and 10 are great. i'd first build 10, then 3. the marble can wait. which marble wonders do we want anyways?

Eh, I'd build a city right between the silks and the rice (on the plains hill), another one one square south of #5, another on the plains one square to the west of #3 then another on the same longitude as 11 and the same latitude as 7 and another on the same latitude as 11 but 2 or 3 tiles to the east.

One square south of 5 dosn't get the Marble resorce, one square west of 3 don'st fully seal off the Eastern region from the Bananas (untill border growth). The 7 latiture/11 longitude area is still in total blackness.

I like the spot imediately East of Blue/South of White

We get imediate Copper and Cow (for strong growth and high hammer production) and no overlap with the Capitol, in addition the westbank of the river will be inside the eventual city radius (WaterMills their someday). This should become our primary production City for unit pumping and probably wonder building as well. Our third City would be the marble City uless people fell thats too much of a deay, without creative we need a Monolith to get to radius to pop, thats ~15 turns after founding a city. I am shure everyone agrees getting imediate Copper is paramount so this first City MUST have copper in the FatCross, preverably closer. So speedwise we might aswell use the second city for Marble.

Drawback of that location though would be we can't found a city on the west side of the river mouth.

Though of course, such considerations are secondary if Banana is going to do a landrace.

I dont like the west riverbank anyways, the Coastal hill is the better choice. I dont think either of these 2 locations are likley to be take by the Banans as their second city, its too far from the capitol to defend from Barbarians let alone us.

Building a city on the coastal hill (which I like) makes it difficult to get the copper any time soon though. Unless I've missed something?

What about the spot just to the west of #10? Or even the spot two tiles to the west of #10?
