Whats the problem...a cottage heavy start is still good with or without OP forests. And even if forests arnt unbalanced they will still be a decent choice.

my idea of a good general strat (not counting in wonders):
research: bronze, wheel, pottery
then any tech we need to link a good resource (masonry/fishing/animal)
hunting and archery if we have no horses or bronze
then going for writing/alphabet line
building: worker first, chop worker, chop settler
settler build city at stone/marble/bronze site
one of the cities concentrates on making units, the other can build wonder or other infrastructure.
a think to mark, do u think the using of great engineers is a waste for industrious civs, since they build wonders @ half cost?

yes. and:
i haven't played version 1.61 yet, but i have been thinking: if we are not gonna chop because of the nerf, why even develop BW and build a worker right away? perhaps wheel/pottery first would be better. at the same time, building a warrior then a worker
we can still develop BW wile building the settler (i also say, wait to size 2 for that. maybe another warrior after the worker)
did anyone test a few starts out with the new patch? i can't, right now
