We are concerned about the placement of your last city. We thought we
had a (non-formal) agreement to not build any cities in that contested
zone, or at least to divide the resources in there equally. Now you've
taken the cows, the horses and the elephants, leaving us only the
northern rice. This city is very close to the former southern banana
city, where we believe we have the full rights to.

For a continued good relationship and colaboration, we hope you don't
continue any buildup this far north.

We also still didn't receive any estimate on when you'd be done with
feudalism, which makes us wonder, what is the problem with your
scientists and diplomats - by now the tech should long be finished and
deal done.

Please note that ACs power graph is continuing to rise. Perhaps that is to capture barb cities, but I am a bit uneasy. They can start churning out macemen if they want, and probably have an HE city. We do not even have a barracks yet

Under the circumstances, it is fair that AC question the position of our new city. However, by now we should have made some communication (even a quick email) about our scientific progress and the reason for the delay.

By the way, we can give AC Feudalism in 2 turns. What is the arrangement RE technology after that? Is it straight on to Paper?

Yes we are wrong to not have at least given an update on the research. Lets do it post haste and agree to not found any further in the disputed area.

I'm not sure what is happening with diplomacy, but I think a short email to AC will be timely. Here is a draft:

Several centuries ago our prophets predicted the birth of a great Stormian scientist and advised that we store up commerce in preparation for this great event. With the addition of a library, the savings of the last few centuries are now being invested into our joint research projects with greater dividends. We are pleased to inform you that, in the long term, our research rate will be more rapid as a result this forward planning.

We are also happy to announce that our scientists have just discovered the secrets of Feudalism, and will pass this knowledge on to you next turn. We also anticipate that our scientists working in our newly founded academy will have knowledge of Paper in a mere four 4 turns. We thank you for your partnership and continued friendship.

Note that I have not addressed issues to do with the founding of the new city. I'll leave that to Blake.

Comments or alternate options for correspondence are welcome ASAP; we need to placate our powerful neighbours.

I've backed off being concerned about diplomacy since Blake informed me he has regular, informal, contact with Impaler.

However, I believe we should not rely on Blake's contact alone, so short notes acknowledging their queries and concerns are a good idea. Godel's message is a good one.

Incidentally, Blake was correct. Their message makes it sound as if the Northern city is accepted so long as we go no farther.
