Hi nye,

Just a quick query - I've convinced a friend of mine that he should join the Demogame with GS. His handle is Godel and he's just applied (so I guess you'll have a message about that as well).

Background: really good mate of mine, known him since university. Civ-wise, he's basically single player only (like me!), and he and I of late have been playing a few games through together to try and get better. Basically take the same position (emperor), each of us plays 30ish turns single player, then we compare and see what went wrong/right. He's pretty good - better than me.

But he's starting to get frustrated now that I have all these insights from the forums!! I'm definitely getting better as a result.... But in the interests of all Civ-players everywhere improving, I told him he should join up, particularly to the demogame, so that he can learn from you/Blake/Vel/etc...

I guess we need to vote or something? You guys asked me a few questions before letting me in, so I guess you'll want to do the same with him?

The benefit for us is another set of hands around the place - he's not expert (particularly at multiplayer), but will still try and be helpful as best he can.

Oh, and I should mention he's doing a Phd in pure mathematics. So I think that will be an asset for the team when we trying to model future outcomes etc.

Man, you guys are too nice. I was hoping to at least grill him a little... maybe we can each pm him a *difficult* question or two. My suggestions as follows:

1. Given an initial river grassland start, which special resource is preferable: gems or wheat? Justify your answer with worked examples of city growth and production (capped at 50 turns - early strategy only)

2. Which Civilization unit best represents its real-life analogue: the Impi Warrior, Korean Hwacha or German Panzer? Discuss alternative gamplay implementations that would better represent the real military units.

3. Provide a detailed log of one recent victory at Monarch level or higher. Each turn report should include as a minimum:
-City breakdown, with full details of build queues and workforce placement
-Research path and beaker generation details
-All domestic and military unit movement (be sure to include any auto-worker or auto-path commands)
-Additionally, include a minimum of ten "role-play" accounts where you explain the thoughts, emotions and hopes of the citizens of your empire. Minimum average length for each piece of prose 300 words; one should be in in poetic form.

4. Shields or Hammers?

And for all you Yanks who don't understand: We're Aussies, if I don't hassle him then I'm not really his mate...
