This appeared to work last time, so once again - let's discuss.

The general previous opinion was obviously in favour of coastal scouting and/or heading east, as opposed to heading to the western hut.

So, what is our next move - 9 again (coastal) or 3 (along the river)?

There's a chance of getting stuck behind that mountain and losing a lot of time on the river-Vox expedition if we go 9. I prefer 3, to get onto the river asap from here.

I vote for the 3-spam. We can see that there is an island or bay to the north of Grog - there is a land tile 888 of him, and water 88 and 89 (and possibly 99 by the look of it too). While it would be nice to explore there, it isn't something urgent, and as Cort says, we don't want to run any risk of getting stuck behind mountains - going 9 puts of 3 turns behind simply going 3 in terms of getting between us and where we think Vox are. Finding Vox is our first priority; nothing too bad is going to happen from not scouting behind the mountains for a few turns. The worst case scenario of not finding Vox could be very bad on the other hand.

Agreed. Let's move to the southeast (3). In SP, I might take time to explore the coast fully. But Vox is out there and I want to see where.

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

Can't be said any better. I too vote 3.

According to NeuroticOne's post here, Banana has sent on the save, but is hasn't shown up in our Gmail Inbox yet. I posted this fact in the common forum, just in case we need our time allotment, and I also PM'd NeuroticOne.

You didn't see the lion before you moved?

Sure I did, but DeepO's and Arrian's comments in the Turn 8, 3720BC thread gave me confidence in proceeding as planned.

Would you have moved differently, or are you concerned that I didn't wait for team input?

I think the move was still the correct one, lion or no.

It is probably OK, but I have lost units on the first combats so I'm a little leery of moving so aggressively.

The big thing is not losing Grog (I don't think this is likely), but we will probably have to wait to heal...and I really want to know where Vox are soon! So I possibly would have advocated another path if I had known the Lion was there.

But in any case, what's done is done, Dejon is doing an excellent job keeping everything ticking over, and we'll just play on from here. to dejon!
