It all depends on time and space.
If we are far from any others, then a 'rush' is really hard to do when they may see us coming from 12 tiles away.
OTOH, if we are relatively close to someone with just a cap, who found a religion, and then produce the Oracle...
and nobody would hold it against us, except a dead civ.(\__/)

maybe not a rush, but our skirms could "claim" land in the name of the glorious storm, and then if people settle there, we are just doing "ethnic cleansing"
but then again, I suck at rushing...

Just raced diagonally through this thread... I agree Oracle is suicide. I don't agree on no slingshots, though, a totally flat approach means no trading ability, so a sure way to get behind. But slingshots can also come from GPs, and don't have to be very deep (I see us going for the GLib, for instance, if the opportunity arrives).
More to the point, though, have we settled on a first turn strategy yet, from what we know? If so, can the turnplayer or a vet please post the turnthread with the last plan in? Doing so, people who only rarely visit can quickly get up to speed...
