  • What's the highest level you normally play on?

I'm posting this poll because it would be interesting and potentially useful to know what difficulty level team members normally play on.

I'm currently up to Monarch, but haven't played that enough to try moving up to Emperor yet. (My pattern is to get comfortable on one level before trying to move to the next one up.)

I find Monarch enjoyable and Emperor fairly comfortable. It's my style to play at a level and calibre where I have a nearly 100% chance of winning, I'm not really one to bash away at a higher difficulty and win 1 in 10 games, I want to be able to find the path to victory in EVERY game.

Only Deity games I've won have been on duel maps... granted I have won all deity duels I've tried.

Emperor is about where I cut out. I am looking for fun, not nightmares.

I've played only Prince for SP, but have played some (odd) MP at Monarch - a friend and I playing somewhat cooperatively. I've pulled off the CS slingshot on Monarch (our team doesn't really get going until Alphabet, so it had no effect, really), but I typically feel hemmed in and harried in a way I'm not used to on Prince.

Noble, but I've not had the game a month yet, so I'm still playing "test games" more than anything. I tried my first game at Prince with no real look at the differences from CivIII, just eager to get my feet wet. With no idea how to generate G-men, and not much more of an idea about how combat works, the results were predictable.

I had intended to just play a game or two at Noble so I could get the mechanics down, but decided to adjust game speed first, so it's been one at Normal, two at Epic and two at Marathon. In other words, it's time to move up with my next game.

I'm bouncing back and forth between Monarch and Emperor (all SP). Still testing and learning, really... getting comfortable with research, general building, and combat, but still don;t feel good about terrain managment and certainly not GPs!

Don;t care much about winning just yet... lost a space race by four friggin' turns last night!

I'd say 50% Prince, 50% Monarch at the moment. Depends on what I'm up for.

Emperor is where I start to feel comfortable. Monarch has become too easy, Immortal is still too much of a gamble. I still need a lot of practice to win 90% of my games on emperor, though.

I play very little, but if I play, it's mostly monarch. Somehow I haven't found back to my old Civ3 pace (addiction) yet - which might be even a good thing, time-wise.

                      Monarch (comfortably-ish) but haven't played since 1.09.

Can't waste a couple of days at the moment, which I know will hapen if I start up another game.

Emperor here - I've reached the point where I can run Monarch over consistently, but where Emperor (especially those darned barbs, and keeping them off my specials) remains a significant challenge.

Same here albeit on Noble. Heck I've only played two games only one of which I finished to completion. I got bored in the second game during the industrial and left it.

That said, Noble wasn't much of a challange so I guess my "real" level would be Prince.

Correction. I used to be able to play emperor before taking a break a little before 1.52.

I've been playing Mansa on Prince with continents. I'm having a hard time establishing a lead over the AI. I either get crowded out by AI or am alone.
