Should we start playing now?

The more we wait, the closer Warlords comes. At some point (probably around May) the crowd will say "Let's wait for Warlords then". Warlords comes out buggy. I don't need to be a prophet to predict this, all games are released this way. It'll need a patch. The patch comes out 2 months after release, as usual. This moves the start of this game to about autumn. And it will exclude those of us, who will not buy Warlords.

I am slowly but steadily losing interest in this game.

NYE made such a proposal a week ago. Four teams, small map. I am sure GS would be game, at least a large part of it. The people who are willing to play should be able to do so now. Even if it would demand to form new teams. This would allow those who prefer to play to start now, while those who prefer to wait can do so as long as they wish. At the moment those who are willing to play are helt hostage by those who are not.

That's assuming Warlords are released in summer as promised. But see, there's a catch. Summer also means September.

I visited Firaxis site yesterday. I'm now certain that the much waited patch will not be released separately. In fact I now believe that it was planned as an enhancement to the original game as part of Warlords expansion from the very beginning.

I hope people are now seeing the merit of playing the game on a smaller map now. A map style with a single continent would have helped too.

We don't know if the patch is buggy or not.

It might as well be a complete mess.

We can't possibly start a game with a brandnew and largely untested patch.

I vote to wait at least eight weeks to check the patch and make sure there's not coming another one.
