hehe, this is Apolyton. There are far important things than the game itself - constitution, teams forming, being sure everyone is ok to start a game, polls for civ choices, constitution, setting private forums, discussing turn order, polls for map settings and some changes of the constitution from a previous game

At least my expirience shows this

My scan indicates you have a passion of writing the word 'constitution'..

I disagree, we should get going!

I am still of the opinion that the game should start sometime in February.

I would say we should start it now and devote a thread to welcoming new people into the game, so by the time X-mas rolls around, new blood is getting pumped into the game, probably resulting in an interesting shift in overall feel.

So let's change that. The C3P Interclan Democracy Game went from proposed to running in the course of three weeks; we can do that here, too.

Pomp, circumstance, and red tape are only as important and time-consuming as you choose to allow them to be. Are we here to play a game or strut around like roosters?

Apparently we have several "strutly types," the way I see it, people who need to debate every aspect of the game aren't good enough to play with the hand dealt to them through RANDOM CHANCE. If a team cannot compete on a random start, then why compete at all. The teams are set, the zaniness is only building up, if we must strut around like roosters, then let's at least have something to strut about and play the stinkin' game!

Perhaps not quite so vehement, but I quite agree.

Let's start polls here - map type? Sea level? Difficulty? Game speed?

Constitutions are matters for the individual teams to solve on their own time. Game rules for transmitting the save can be pulled from every game before this. There are no exploits to mention at the moment, so that's solved. Let's get moving.

I agree with you both 100%. But Ive resigned myself to the fact that we will have to talk this to death first. Ill take a look at this and try and update the time table sometime this week. I was going to do it last weekend, and then had to go to the in laws on some short notice, when I thought I was going to stay home and play CIV.

I dont think we need until February to start but thats just me.

As mostly only 1 member of each team is actually going to play, all the "chatter-about" is the only thing the rest of the team members can enjoy. If you just want a fast game without a lot of stuff talking-to-death, then you're looking for a normal PBEM instead of a DG.

let's make it clear - I hate all those lengthy treaties, constitutions, etc.

They are made to be sure the game will be fair. However, there is always a way (even more than one) to go around this.

IMO we need to set just the general rules (something like the IC2) and start. Everything else may be discussed during the game play.

Set everything to random I say (map settings too)!

Well, let's see. We have by my count the following teams:

                                1. Alpha Centaurians
                                2. Bananas
                                3. The Horde
                                4. Vox Controli
                                5. Sarantium
                                6. The Glory of (More?) War?
                                7. Gathering Storm
                                8. The MERCenary Team?

Each team would get one vote on every proceeding question, I'd think.

Can we get someone to pull a ruleset from a previous multi-team demogame that we can tweak as needed for the rules in this one?

Let's at least get the discussions we CAN have started.
