  • The UnOrthOdOx Domestic Plan Proposal and tech discussion: Circa 475 AD

So. War has gone well. We've neutered both our neighbors.

Next turn our forces will join up outside of Ocala. The following turn, the workers will be home free.

Presently, we are running 50% science at a -9 GPT deficit.

We plan on rebuilding Echo within 3-4 turns. And that means more corruption losses and a hit on our GPT.

FS and Foxtrot are set for max production. AB is set for max gold, Lima and Zulu are set for max growth.

Our single biggest threat right now lies in our own ability to mutilate our economy.

And, we are at a tech crossroads.

Sailing is a mere 3 turns out. It opens the doors to calendar (11 turns), which would net +2 happy across all cities. total: 14 turns

Drama is 10 turns out at current tech rate.

Now. Calendar opens up Echo to some glorious food production. It can grow rapidly, and crank out a good chunk of science from specialists. Plus it's +2 happiness nation wide.

Drama allows for Theaters. At 1 pop each, every city could whip one virtually immediately on discovery. This would open the door to building the Global Theater in AB. Ending all happiness issues there forever. Moreover, the timing works as in about 10 turns I expect AB to be able to whip the National Epic. It can then go right into producing the Global theater. Not to mention the sliders allow us to manipulate any happiness issues at will.

In 11 turns, we will have another Great Specialist as well. (likely scientist).

Where am I going with this?

We presently pay 7 GPT in support to our armies. We are on the cusp of being able to grow all our cities further no matter the tech path. And, we are extending the front locally when we build Echo.

I propose we withdraw our troops to our own territory for the next 14 turns. This will net us +7 GPT, and allow us to maintain the present tech rate through whichever tech path.

It also allows us to focus on growing Lima, Foxtrot, and FS.

By the end of the 14 turns, Lima and Foxtrot would have forges and granaries. They would be capable of size 7, and both at least size 6.

FS would be size 7, have a granary built, and ready to grow further once the happies come in.

Lima will have grown to size 5 or 6 (depending on it's happy limit), ready to expand further once happies hit, and have cottages ready to be worked.

AB will have whipped the National Epic, have more cottages to work, both current cottages expanded, and more tiles improved and ready to work. (Some more farms may be in order around AB)

Echo should have grown to size 2 and be working 2 cottaged sugars. Depending on which tech path, it can either whip a granary or a theater at this point.

At the end of these 14 turns, we'll be able to support this tech rate, AND the war.

And, at the end of 14 turns, we'll have a minimum of 3 cats ready to head back out with our troops despite all this builderer stuff. Weove fought in a guerilla manner till now, forcing them to split defenses. It's time to line up and finish this. Let them pack their entire army in one spot, we'll crush it. Either of them.

So, please respond: Do you agree with the withdrawl, and which tech path do you prefer?

I personally think sailing/drama/calendar/currency should be our next tech priorities.

Drama and Calendar being the most immediately beneficial. Markets are also wonderfull, not only boosting GPT, but allowing merchants.

One could make the argument for currency over the calendar or drama approach, actually. AB is capable of 4 specialists, 2 scientists/2 merchants and a market would negate most our deficit spending alone. Just doesn't help with the happies at all.

At this point I favor Drama, though. Followed by calendar, followed by currency and code of laws. Then, it should be down through to getting boats and contacting the other continent.

Drama allows us to control culture too well, and opens the possibility of snagging Philosophy (that is to say, taoism) with a Great Scientist.

If we can snag Taoism then I say go drama. Otherwise I think Currency should be our top priority after calendar. Theaters aren't really our top concern now.

Well, it hasn't been founded YET, and a scientist GP would be able to lightbulb philosophy. But, it's 12 turns out, so anything could happen by then. It's a risk.

Another thing in theaters favor, though, is with Sarantium apparantly serious about paying us for peace, they would ensure our cultural dominance and allow some aggressive city placement as a result, if we so choose.
