  • Dual Contract Problem

    Okay, problem. :/

    550bc save.

    Message to Team Merc.

Your units are in sight. On time and in place. Thank you. Can you please move the stack 3 next turn, to the copper to cover our chariot. You will need to declare war on the Horde for your coverage to be effective.

Math in 5, maybe 6. Somewhere around there.

    Regards ...Beta of Sarantium
We may be able to carry on 2 wars at a time, but not if Sarantium wants to share tiles with us. We're going to have to declare on Sarantium soon too. (Assuming Horde contract goes ahead.)

I hope this isn't going to be too big of an issue, given that they have only the one chariot and we've brought a stack of 4 units that are quite simply each more effective than a chariot. And we can make the transition, I believe - we shouldn't need to declare on Sarantium this turn as we join their chariot, but rather only the next. But... it's certainly something I think Sarantium would be within their rights to complain about. Why use merc units if they get in your way?

Another problem: when/where is the Horde actually supposed to be issuing orders? If they want us to kill the Sarantium archer, that's a problem. If this is only the delivery turn, they technically don't get to issue orders - we only promised we'd deliver them at a place and time, not in a particular way. But if they are supposed to start giving orders...

      I have a question...

What happens if one team we have contracted with gets eliminated and is thus unable to pay their debt to us?

Then we're SOL. (That means, err, So Out of Luck )

Hopefully that will not happen within the timespans in which we'll have to keep the in-game wars going.

Is that a factor we could take into consideration when executing our contracts? Like if contracted troops are carrying out an assault on someone's last city, could we refuse to attack if it means we lose payment on our other contract?

No, we could not refuse to attack in that situation.

We can refuse to be hired if we foresee the situation arising, however.
