I have submitted the query to Team Mercenary as well, so far from official offer.
We have captured 2 workers from you this turn. (I'm assuming you missed/forgot we had a chariot in the southern stack)
Coupled with the gold pilfered from your cities, Team Mercenary MAY be appeased, and consider it enough compensation for the debt owed for services rendered on contract, and the destruction of our neutral chariot.
So, what say you, is peace possible, or would you prefer to exit with your heads held high on principle? One who has a surplus of the unorthodox shall attain surpassing victories. - Sun Pin

What I see possible with peace.
First of all, if peace is agreed to by both our teams, Team Mercenary considers this business finished. No grudges, nothing.
The border agreement would remain intact, we will not settle east.
Some deals I see as possible with Peace:
(none of this is official, mind you, just showing you the potential)
We could catch you up in tech, possibly with fairly favorable deals.
I know you have sailing we need. We have Polytheism, Literature, and Machinery you need. (we'll have construction through our own devices in 2 turns anyway, so not needed from you)
So, sailing for Poly and a credit towards Lit, or something along those lines. Machinery and the rest of lit, I'm thinking, may be possible in return for some monks/priests/whatever. We get happies, you get gold and tech. And, a rich Sarantium is better for Team Merc. Yeah...so you can peek on us, there's ways we can still hide our units from ya.
Gems
Sugars
Settlement agreement extending south of current agreement.

Did you send this already or are you proposing to send this?
I definitely wouldn't advise trading away Machinery in any event.
Also... do we request no compensation for the losses suffered during the war? They violated a contract, we "took them to court" and they lost. Shouldn't we seek our "attorney fees" in compensation?Captain of Team Apolyton - ISDG 2012

I sent them making it clear it was me only, not official offers. I am not team mercenary, and if the members object, I'm perfectly happy continuing their destruction.
I very much disagree with milking more out of Sarantium.
They had a price for what they had violated. We have extracted that loss. We did not seek "attorney fees" from the Horde in the same situation, we have to stand fast and treat them equally now.
Now, as for trading of techs. I agree it should not happen while we are still at war with the Horde. For obvious reasons.
After, though, it only makes sense to catch them up so the two of us can collaborate on future research. The only thing I see they could potentially offer is missionaries, or whatever. We could definately use the happy, it frees us from finding our own religion (which we're unlikely to ever be able to build the special building), and it enrichens a customer. One who has a surplus of the unorthodox shall attain surpassing victories. - Sun Pin

Dear Sarantium,
Team Mercenary would like to inform you we are declaring a unilateral cease fire on opperations against Sarantium.
We will be contacting you in the next few days for terms to make this a lasting peace. Until then, and a reasonable time for which you to consider, we will not be sending units to extract further payments from Sarantium.
However, if Sarantium units move to threaten Mercenary property, they will be swiftly dispatched as a matter of self defense.

Hi UnO. Any chance we can get a dialogue going as to where we go with the C4DG? Just you and I for now?
Let me know. Thanks.
Beta
But there's not a whole lot to chat about.
Team Merc has decided you guys should pay for the units we lost trying to get back what you owed us for the rental/tech trade/tile you pillaged.
Yes, we have agreed to a cease fire for the time being, but at the same time several members of Sarantium saw fit to make things personal with me "off the record", even though I also have it on good authority some of the "off the record" pm's from me are being shared either in full or paraphrased within Sarantium.
So, I no longer particularly care to advocate on Sarantium's behalf. That leaves you with either pay up, or we continue to seek out payment our own ways. In accordance to our defensive statement in public. Course, then you inevitably kill more of our units in defense, which adds to your debt, and we snowball until the ultimate end.
My problem solely lies in getting Team Merc to agree to a price. Which is currently shaping up to be gift us sailing, agree to a 2 tile wide demilitarization zone (no cities or roads), and some pocket change (comparitively) in future tech credits.
Unless you'ld rather make some counter offer of gifting us some combo of tech and units to cover the cost. Which I won't know for certain till I open the saveto double check the combat log, which isn't happening tonight as I'm sick and highly medicated and probably said something stupid here as a result. I understand that you and con had words. He said as much in our forums. The initial two pm's you sent to him and me were posted, but after that, anything between you and him has not appeared in our forums. Nor did he paraphrase anything or go on at length as to what was said by either party. So, not sure who your 'good authority' is, but I am giving you the straight goods.

You must appreciate that there are some equally hard feelings at our end. We really do feel that you reneged completely on our agreement when you rented units to the Horde and declared war on us whwn we had a deal in the works. A large 'premium' to use your words. To simply assume we would have a nice little war and then conclude the agreement is certainly a bit of a stretch.
What it did do is force the Horde and us closer together - as they were equally miffed when you rented units to us to use against them.
So, if we continue down this path, we hand the game to AC. Now, I am not sure that matters much to your team given its public stance.

Con was not the only one.
Anyhow. That makes no difference at the present time. Everything will be handled strictly according to the book.
We can go around arguing about whether the tech deal should have guaranteed peace or not all day. That's in the past.
The issue before us is that you attacked and killed a Mercenary Chariot, and engaged in several acts of war beyond that.
We will be paid. Once hostilities were initiated, that is the only thing that mattered to Team Mercenary: Getting paid for the acts of war against it. We will see that through.
Our contract as it stands right now:
Contract #0009
"War like any other racket, pays high dividends to the very few. The cost of operations is always transferred to the people who do not profit." -General Smedley Butler

Team Mercenary shall remain at War with Team Sarantium untill reimburssed for the amount of 50.
Results:
- Team Sarantium offers explaination for their actions and makes suggestion to improve Mercenary Policies. Offered one time discount on reimbursement as credit for advice. Balance: 25 gold.
- Sarantium denies offer. Balance: 50
- Team Sarantium obtains Masonry from the Horde, cancelling Contract #0004. Cost 142. Balance: 192
- Team Sarantium invades Mercenary lands, balance for Hammer differential on Contract # 0006 added to reparations. Cost 8. Balance: 200
- Team Sarantium pillages Mercenary Gems. Cost 60 Balance 260
- 2 Mercenary Horse Archers in Pre-emptive strike on invading Sarantium Forces. Cost 200 Balance: 460
- 2 Mercenary Horse Archers, 4 Mercenary Axes died in Battle of Anhinga. Cost 480 Balance 940
- Sarantium Cottage donates 4 gold towards Reparations. Balance 934
- Citizens of the Sarantium town of Anhinga have donated 10 gold to the reparations. Balance: 924
- Citizens of the Sarantium town of Port Tiberium have donated 90 gold to the reparations. Balance: 834
- 2 Sarantium Workers have volunteered their lives in Service of Team Mercenary as reparations. Credit 240 Balance: 594

Your balance is at 594. Any combo of gold/tech/units is acceptable. Units count as 2X hammer cost.
We are discussing the possibility of a demilitarization zone between us, but I have yet to put a $ on it. Let me know if you're interested.
As always, any suggestions of alternative payment would be entertained.

Normally the thread would be public anyway. So here is our current full contract history (note I had made some clerical mistakes in contract 9, namely the hammer differential on contract 0006 was already factored into contract 0004, and I was double charging you. Along with some simple math errors. Rectified, and your new balance of 588 is below.
Well, the full history won't fit, so here's the relevent 2 contracts.

Ok - humour me for just a bit.
We have compass and you have machinery. You have the best research capability I presume. We send you compass - which we promised AC not to trade (wink wink) - but enough time has passed that you could have easily researched it.
We help with research with gold - on the understanding that it will be shared. We may have to figure out the most efficient way to do it.
We need to contact GS asap and tell them to just sit tight and keep AC talking as long as they can.
We then need galleons - again - shared research - to get troops there as fast as we can. It was a continent that was built for 4 civs, so sjould be some land for all of us. Colonies so to speak.
We would need to establish some form of continental alliance with an established end date, so the 3 civs on our continent can head into such an endeavour with confidence and 100% commitment to the goal.
That's what I was thinking of. We can also get GS to pay for your services, but you may need to 'bend' your merc philosophy a bit - as AC is clearly the one civ which you could make the most money off. LOL.
Anyways. What do you think? If it is too much of a flyer, no problem, we wrap up the game. But if the mercs are on-side, I am sure PLATO and the Horde would join in the fun.
