how do we want to settle name choices?

IMO,the cities'names must be changed,lest the others teams know its building order (Paris,Orleans,Lyons and so on).
Numbers,if shown,can give away information.

IMO using numbers just on settlers wont give much away, just if there is a bunch od them

this would apply to workers as well

all others would have distinctive names

City names must be changed and should be related to our civ.

Numbers for Settlers and Workers are fine with me, but I request that they be random.

That way we can ID them without much thought, and without giving anything away.

Other units should have unique names.

I think the idea is good, but won´t be a lot confusing in late game?
We can use other names (Alpha, beta, ...) or roman chars, like Banana Rifleman XVIII, or Banana Grenadier beta III.

I'm with Daddy-O. With the possible addition that the first digit relate to the city in which the unit was created(maybe this is too much)

Just thinking about and puting together what partners have said:
Cities:as the game will be "played"in english,give them the names of American,Canadian,Australian,NZ(but not English)cities;just with care never to follow the natural order - Washington,New York and so on;maybe begining the name by Banana.
Settlers:no problem,they will always be few;so numbers that even could be used again when they became free.
Workers:christians (or/and almost)names.
Military unities:first their type (warrior,archer)then three letters in random sequency.
It seems very useful to create a table with the names,so that the turn player can "get"the names and the table be filled(on the table the QWE would become warrior QWE).

About the military unities:everybody knows how peaceful we are;but are there enough names to christen our unities?But again the said imagination.Sure,agreed.
