NOTE: MOVEMENT
looking at your keypad the unit is always at "5"
refer to the numbers to were you plan to move
(even multiple times)
NOTE: UNITS
its not to hard now to say (w)warrior moves "xxx"
but later on new names of the units will help make the difference
CITY AND UNIT NAMES
list to be here http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...hreadid=148807
w-warrior"bob"
s-settler "sue"
THOUGHTS
moves -
bob 6 pops hut, 8- head toward hill to reveal more area
bob 3 - grassland
bob 9 - to the hills (2 turns)
bob 7- to the hill (1 turn ?)
sue 5, build city in forrest, leave open ground for future use
DECISSIONS - FINAL ORDERS - UPDATED 3/12
1. settle sue where is
2. City Name-
2. bob-
action-
City builds-
1. Warrior
2.
research-
1.mining
2. mining,but if hut pops mysticism,perhaps budhism
NOTE- I wil do my best to get all ideas into the one post to make things easier for a single view and/or call for a voteanti steam and proud of it
CDO ....its OCD in alpha order like it should be

interesting start indeed.
my suggestion is to reveal as many tiles as possible in the first move with "bob". i would move bob 3 and then pop the hut with settling the city on spot.
city construction: warrior sounds good. not much choice there. research i really dont have a clue but whatever brings us to oracle swiftly sounds good, so mining is a choice to make early.

My thoughts:
The imediate goal of bob'move is the decision about sue. So,Isee two possible good moves:6 which reveals three tiles of the present radius and pops the hut or 3 which reveals five tiles, one of them (3+3)off radius;the advantage of move 3 would be a possible move of sue to 3 and settle there, instead;but the move 6 is perhaps a better one, because sue'present location keeps the two huts(N and W) and ,if a scout, pops, then he would go south and sue would know by sure what to do.
If nothing new,sue settles at present location.
Build:warrior,but if hut pops warrior,worker.
Research:mining, but if hut pops mysticism, perhaps budhism.

Taking into account that there are a few well known starting stratagies, ie. Slingshot, is there some way we could improve our position by not going thoes routes and taking the chance of not reaching the goal first? Or are the benifits of these starting stratagies to important to not try for them?
And are there ideas as to what to do if we end up not getting to these goals first ?

I do think we need to decide on some basic start of the game strategy, or else our turns will be just what seems best at the time. Only because some strategies seem to put you behind at first, but only to help you later on. And if we took this as a "what seems best now" we may not acomplish our goals.
Which is of course the total domination of Banana kind.

Lets not forget this is noble level, so bob should not get to far away from sue.
There looks to be suitable amounts of forest, I would suggets build where settler is, keep the open grassland for food. Plus we should get the chop with the build.
I support
1. moving 3, more tiles revealed
2.Build:warrior,but if hut pops warrior,worker.
Research:mining, but if hut pops mysticism, perhaps budhism
GOAL IDEA
short term -
Oracle
or a religon
long term-
1. do we wany to rush out and meet a civ and become allies(if at all)
2. concentrate on growth/defenseanti steam and proud of it
CDO ....its OCD in alpha order like it should be

Just a thought...
If we settle first, it will pop the hut for us as previously mentioned, plus it will open more viewable area. From the looks of it, more area than Bob could get to in the first turn. Am I right about this?
So my vote is to settle where Sue is now, and head in what I guess I could call a eastern direction. My vote would be 9 to head towards the hill.

Thinking deeper(and after reading your posts...):
Right now,the most important decision is where to found the capital(present location is just so so). So,IMO,
First,move Bob 3;if tile 3+3 is a quick special(wheat,corn,pigs,rice,gold,gems,silver)move Sue 3(or 6 or 2,I cannot see the screen now)and settle;if not,Sue just settles at her current location;first build and research as Rex'last post;then,Bob will go counterclokwise,or clockwise,to find a place for city 2.
And an alie would be cool,but...please tell me,aren't they the fake believers that even attack a friend and brother in faith?

This is my first strategy post. I'm decent at the game, but maybe not as good as some of you, so please forgive me if I say obvious things or make clumsy mistakes. Hopefully the more I talk the more likely someone can correct me and I'll get things straight.
I'm not thrilled with the initial spot for Sue. No food specials and no floodplains mean slow growth. No precious metals mean no early commerce engine. Pretty much the only thing we have going for us is the river, but even it looks likely to cover only a handful of the squares in our fat T.
I would strongly prefer to move Bob as several people have suggested and cross our fingers that we see some wheat, or corn, or (knock on wood) a cow somewhere. We could move him 1, and reveal some tiles that include some grassland (potentially good for cottages or food particularly if we turn up a special). Moving him 3 seems better though, as it reveals a bit more land and includes a lot of river squares that would help out our commerce a great deal.
I'm inclined to get off that forest and preserve it for a chop if at all possible. Hopefully something will turn up and we can have a clear alternative city location. There is even the plains hill on the river to consider. There's no telling what lies beyond it, but it would bring the extra hammer to the city square, the extra city defense, and (like a lot of the alternatives) would be on the river for the fresh water bonus.
Also, I'd like to comment on research options and long-term strategy (Pyramids? Oracle? GPs?), but I'm not sure this is the right thred. It seems like this thread would be best used for discussing the unit movement and maybe handle the rest elsewhere. Is that right, or should we do it here?
