  • The Tech Trade Thread

This is a place to discuss tech trades and agreements which go beyound 2-team scale.

Current tech trade draft, as of turn 61, BC 1600

    AC<->GS:

    AC:
    Alphabet: 429
    Iron Working: 286
    Total: 715

    GS:
    Masonry: 114
Polytheism: 143 (actually much less for them as most of it was considered wasted up until now)
    Archery: 85
    Maths: 357
    Total: 699

    In two exchanges:
1.once Aphabet finished IW for Masonry + Polytheism, a clearly generous deal in terms of beakers, especially knowing GS has already wasted lots of beakers on Polytheism and this deal will let them 'reclaim' those.

2.Once they get Maths - Maths + Archery for Alphabet
Quite a fair one with them somewhat repaying the balance of the first deal.

    AC<->Banana:
    AC:
    Iron Working: 286
    Writing: 171
    Total: 457

    Bananas:
    Fishing: 57
    Sailing: 143
    Meditation: 114
    Priesthood: 85
    Total: 399

    1. (right after Alphabet is done)
    Fishing
    Meditation
    for
    Writing

    2. (right the next turn, when techs one level up can be traded)
    Sailing
    Priesthood
    for
    Iron Working

A generous deal indeed, and we shouldn't miss oportunity to mention how friendly and forthcoming we are with such generosity.

    AC<->Vox:
A backup deal for Polytheism and Masonry if something goes wrong with GS - we should ask if they have them both.

GS<->Banana (possible deals according to 'copyrighting' rule proposal):
    Banana:
    Meditaton
    Priesthood
    Fishing
    Sailing
AH (could also be traded to GS by us)

    GS:
    Masonry
    Polytheism
Hunting (could also be traded to Bananas by us)
    Archery
    Maths
Writing (will be traded by us)

The latest message about the tripartite tech trade deal, which spurred quite a discussion about the outrageous 2nd point and some strange others:
    Friends,
    Concerning point #2.

Our thoughts were that there might be a situation where a 4th nation would have something to offer 1 of us which in turn would benefit all 3 of us. We would hate to be in a situation where we 3 nations could not benefit from a trade due to our own treaty. Team Banana agrees that no party to this treaty should exclusively benefit from tech trades to a 4th party, but that we as partners should keep the option open as long as all 3 of us agree to the trade with the 4th party.

That said, I would find it very rare that a 4th nation would have anything to offer 3 nations who co-ordinate tech research and have an agreement as ours.

Do all three nations agree to the 5 terms that Team Banana offered?

    1. Technology trades will be based on beakers with equality being the goal.
    2. each of the three civs agrees not to retrade any technology to a non-member party acquired in trade from one of the three; without prior agreement of all three member nations.
    3. trades arranged are kept even if a tech to be traded for is acquired by other means
    4. each of the three teams agrees to an embargo on the team known as Vox. Technology will never be traded with Vox and borders with them will remain closed forever.
    5. tech trade arragements among member nations will be common knowledge to member nations - ie. when a trade deal is finalized all 3 members will be notified even if only 2 parties are involved in the trade.

Do we need a 6th point that defines the duration of the agreement, or is this for all time? Someone pick a date, age or tech far in the future. This is not a sticking point but it is something that should be defined.

    Something like:
    6. Upon this world's entry into the MODERN ERA, the members of 3T will renew 3T as is, with modifications, or dissolve Tech Trade Treaty amicably.

    or

    6. Upon discovering and successfully trading FISSION to 3T members, the members of 3T will renew 3T as is, with modifications, or dissolve Tech Trade Treaty amicably.

Again, someone fill in the date or technology and Team Banana will most likely agree to it.

That should cover it for us.

Team Banana looks forward to 3T being signed so that our nations grow strong together in peace.

I'll get on the diplomatic front later this week and try to have some chats or messages sent out soon.

            Friends of the banana,
Now that Elvis' birthday has passed, real life holidays are over. Let's play! Any thoughts? We were so close to signing.

              Hello

We have not heard anything from you regarding tech trades or anything else.

Do you have any reaction to things discussed?

May I suggest someone else sends messages back if Impaler has no time?

                      I sent a quick note:

                      ***

                      Hi guys,

I'd like to say sorry for our lack of response these last weeks. Our main diplomat Impaler has been very busy lately with other stuff, and no one else got around to writing some diplomatic messages to you. We're on it now though, and someone else will send you something soon. In any case, this mail just to say we're still alive and kicking. ;-)

                      Greetings,

                      Maniac

If anybody is in doubt whether to volunteer for being diplomat or not, please volunteer.

It might be best if everybody (even Tassadar?) helps to compose diplomacy messages. Just post proposals in the appropriate threads. Also, if you read a proposal and think it's good, post that. If only those who object post something, we get the wrong picture.

                            Friends,
Our wise leaders have gone to the mountain for guidance from the Great Banana whose name dare not be uttered. They smoked banana peels for 7 days as is our custom. They sought to understand why the nations that are counted as friends of the banana have stopped talking when we were so close to a deal that would take our three nations to greatness. The Great Banana granted our wise men answers in a vision.

The Great Banana spoke thus: "If friends have not sent word, the cause is your own. Wear the moistened leaves of banana shrub 'round thine brows 'til friends they prove to be. I have spoken!"

"Oh yes! Almost forgot. I gift to you the drink of the heavens. Share this knowledge with the world. Now stop burning these peels you are stinking up my mountain."

Our wise men imediately put out their peels, headed home and brewed the drink of the heavens. I am proud to share this gift with you in the hope that the 3T might be ratified and acted on, and that we might remove these wet - though blessed - leaves from our heads.

                            Yea! Banana!
                            The Diplomatic Banana
