In an earlier banana message, their diplomat mentionned being in a US timezone too, so if the 3 US diplomats can attend, it doesn't matter if most of our team is in EU.

Platapus Rex of Bananas has indicated over PM (after I buged him about it) to me he will be attending, he is also in North America.

The next meeting when ever its schedualed will be made more convenient for a European time zone say around mid afternoon on a weekend alowing NA's to also catch it as a late night event.

These are the techs we're going to trade with Bananas, if they agree.

These are the techs we will need in close future (in order of priority) and perhaps we could ask GS to research some of them for exchanging later:

          Monarchy
          Monotheism
          Polytheism
          Mathematics
          Calendar
          Currency

*We actually want it in reverse order, but better make them research some less useful techs and we can pick on the better ones. Im also not sure we should propose trading Monotheism as it still holds a religion chance, but if they get that far, I guess they're gonna take it anyway.

As indicated by PJay, GS has Archery, perhaps ask them if they want to trade it.

We should also ask Bananas do they hold any interest in CoL and Drama, in which event we could trade those for something of equal value.

When asked about our research plans after Fishing, Sailing and Masonry we should say that we're not sure yet, but we'll be taking one/some of the techs proposed for trade if no trading agreement has been reached regarding that tech (as supposedly, the listed techs are those which are important to us ).

Ahh, and here's a spreadsheet I used for tech planning.
It contains tech costs, so it could be useful while negotiating.

We should probably arrange further meetings somewhere else, not apolyton IRC channel.
Yesterday I saw Impaler and nye online and anyone caring to look there could have seen it.

After reading the logs, i agree GS is planning to take over the continent. They will try to use us for that.

Banana knows they are between the two serious powers on the continent. They feel that they don't have much future, even if they try sucking up one of us.

I think they will try to harshen diplo between gs and us, like by not saying they have communications and such.

They probably hope that the war between us and gs will start before they have become a target.

GS is doing very good, since they are in the midst of a war. Also the idea of them popping several huts scares me, with a bit of luck they can take the tech lead.

How to handle this, i don't know. Their history with vox tells they have no scrupules, so trading them alphabet won't make them softer towards us.

I now feel inclined to let banana live a little longer, and first make a strong economy base with 8 cities, and then start to eat up banana. Of course that will become harder if we or gs trade him the good techs.

HM? I'd say all huts are gone by now...

Also, I don't think the nanas can do much on the way of diplomacy, especially that we've already met GS. Also, war between us and GS before the nanas being obliterated is just plain silly. The losses would far outnumber the benefits.

Also, I don't think that GS is dumb enough to believe they will be able to do much by themselves on the continent alone. There's more than enough room for the two of us, and it's an ideal setup, corruption-wise, to have both of us split the continent.

They do know, just like we do, that the nanas as allies would be plain liabilities, thus they will be rushing towards ellies to conquer them (also, because they can, as they probably have ivory). We've been planning to do the same, only with chukos, so I don't really blame them for anything.

Letting the nanas live longer will only mean GS will plunder more than we do off them, so I don't think it's a good idea. We should either use the GE for Machinery or research it by hand, but either way attack ASAP.

We're talking about war after GS has taken both Vox and Bananas (or the latter partitioned between them and us).

As I said, Construction is some 50 turns from now.
By then they will have filled the best spots down there and will start military buildup to take at least the resource-rich southern part of nanas, especially the single elephant resource we just discovered.
Once Bananas are dead, there wont be much waiting for us left..

Yes, we should, but to take Pyramids remain a good idea as they would allow us sustain long wars should they start (+25% mil unit prod, -50% war weariness from police state).

I don't understand, this continent must be huge to start 4 civs. If they take the entire thing they'll have corruption problems and probably be beaten by the other continent. I could see them taking enough space as to make it impossible for us to beat them but I can't see them taking the entire thing. Especially before code of laws.

If we can build walls, either without stone or by getting nanas to trade it to us for a few turns, when we do the machinery/cho unveil we may look strong enough to make GS think twice. If finishing us off will take a long time and the other continent is having a hippy tech trade fest GS will be stuck with corrpution and no way to win. If instead they don't cover the continent they'll be plagued by barb cities and potentially behind the other continent, who when they arrive will take over.

bin and safan, could you explain why you think they want to conquer the entire continent rather than split it between the two of us? I get that saying nanas are our problem is trying to get us to weaken ourselves so they can strike just before the war ends, just not sure why it's a good plan for them.
