Well the rng gods can't always be favoring us. We lost the scout in the banana territories, He won against the lion, but also got attacked by a wolf. We will remember him and keep him in our hearts.

The other scout has explored the west of the continent, discovered no extra resources, just a land tile in the sea that mayb can be used as a stepstone towards new contacts.

Not much to discuss this time, it appears..

foreign intelligence: sarantium grew one pop (in their capital).

So far no one has settled a second city.

For our scout, there are 2 ways to get back to our capital. The red one goes next to the bear, and we'll probably be attacked by the bear (+/- at strength 2.1). The green one goes along the north and we evade the bear, but our scout is always on the plains, so we won't have a defensive advantage if we are attacked by another animal or a barbarian.

I think the red one is good, just in case there are some other barbs running out there.

BTW those hills and mountains seem a bit too rectangular to be natural

I like the Green route, Barbs havent started spawning yet and theirs no need to risk combat with the Bear.

With the loss of the Eastern Scout we will ofcorse be rushing our remaining one their to fill the gap, we particularly want to be on the lookout for Bananna Settlers.

Also the hill the scout is currently on looks like a desent City location later in the game, its ofcourse resorceless like the rest of the western valley but its better then empty space once we have Collosus+GLH practicaly any coastal city can be productive with just a lighthouse to bring in food and a Mine to provide some hammers.

Well, we can try the green and switch to red after first move in case of imminent danger.

Regarding cities - indeed, the place would be good for a sea commerce city, as wel as that spot right south of the mountains and next to wine.

Query: Once we have our Forge are we immediately going to start farming a Great Engineer? If we do so we'll have a ~75% chance of getting one after the Colossus is built. We will then have the option of instabuilding a Wonder.

If we do farm a Great Engi, what do we build with him? I suspect it'll be between the Pyramids, the Great Library or the Great Lighthouse.
                    Which?

                      Datasheet:

                      Code:
                      Name Reqs Cost GP	Special
                      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pyramids	Masonry 450(/2 w. stone)	+2(E)	All Govs
                      Lighthouse	Sailing 200 +2(M)	+2 trade
                      		Masonry routes
                      		Lighthouse on coast
                      Library Literature	350(/2 w. marble)	+2(S)	+2 Scientist
                      		(3 techs)
                      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Basically what is seen here that:
                      - Pyramids are expensive and we don't have the resource for them. We also must consider that pyramids are best for specialist-heavy approach (representation), but we are not aiming for it at least as long as we plan coastal commerce cities (they are not likely to have a lot of food surplus needed for specialists instead producing a lot of commerce)
                      - Lighthouse is cheap, and gives us a truly great bonus, as we are planning coastal commerce cities - +2 coastal city trade routes
                      - Library is expensive enough but would be cheap for us if we hook up marble. It gives us good additional GP boost, but not much and not for long (obsoletes soon). Plus, we can't keep our current b-line to machinery if we want library as we need at least 1 tech off the b-line (alphabet, literature).

In other words I'd prefer Lighthouse, although Pyramids are good aswell.

We just need to check how soon we can farm the GP and won't it slow our development.

Agree with that assesment, Pyrimids shouldn't even be on our radar. Were going to need build up our population after the Whipping before we can go run an Engineer. We want the first 3 workers on Rice and Hamlets for food, the 4th on a mine for Hammers and worker #5 as Enginer. Alternativly #4 could become an Enginer and the mine could wait untill we grow to 5. I say it will depend on how quickly we get improvments built, if their no mine ready to be worked by worker #4 then go Engineer otherwise work the mine.

What are people thoughts on Building a Granary? It reduces the time nessary to growback from a Whipping which can be great in a whip heavy strategy. I set a very high priority on them in my SP games.
