NE next turn for the ScoutCompanions the creator seeks, not corpses, not herds and believers. Fellow creators, the creator seeks - those who write new values on new tablets. Companions the creator seeks, and fellow harvesters; for everything about him is ripe for the harvest. - Thus spoke Zarathustra, Fredrick Nietzsche

As for our next tech do we want to...
=> start exploring the seas
---> fishing -> sailing
=> found a religion to help us with more culture
---> mysticism -> polytheism -> monotheism (judaism)
---> mysticism -> polytheism -> monotheism -> writing -> theology (chrsitianity)
---> mysticism -> meditation -> priesthood -> writing -> code of laws (confuscianism)
In this case, we will also need meditation (for monasteries : +2 culture) and priesthood (temple : +1 culture) to be able to build religion-buildings.
=> try to build the oracle (marble)
---> mysticism -> masonry -> meditation -> priesthood
=> try to build the colossus (copper) : +1 gold in water
---> metal casting (build forge, colossus)
=> try to build the great lighthouse : +2 trade routes in coastal cities
---> fishing -> sailing (build lighthouse) (-> mysticism) -> masonry (build great lighthouse)
=> any other early objectives ?
Maybe we can discuss one in case we have easy access to copper and one in case we don't.
So for the next tech, I would choose either fishing (exploring, great lighthouse), mysticism (religion-culture, oracle) or metal casting (colossus)no sig

Col Slingshot requires that we have Writing as well, most people would research it as the wonder is building but we can build so fast (with marbel and our Industry Bonus totaling +150%) that we would likly need to delay constructctin untill the Techs are completed, this means that the limiting factor for us in a CoL slingshot is our tech rate, we need to have
Mystism>>Meditation>>PriestHood Would allow us to begin constcution and with our Industrial Bonus we need 100 Raw Hammers to finish it. With Marble from Masonry we need just 60 so 2 pre-chopped forests and a bit of whipping would give us the Oracle almost instantly. Atwhich point we can take MetalCasting as the freeTech, which would be both less total Research and we get one of the pre-requisites for the LightHouse along with denying the Oracle to everyone else.
So our choices from Safest to most Risky are...
(A) MetalCasting>>Collosus (assuming we have Copper)
(B) Masonry>>GreatLightHouse (note theirs no bonus Resorce for the LightHouse)
(C) Mason>>Myst>>Med>>Priest>>Oracle>>MetalCasting>>Collosus
(D) Myst>>Writing>>Mason>>Med>>Priest>>Oracle>>CoL
If we dont have Copper A becomes riskier but is still only about equal to B. I think C is our best bet, we maintain the ability to switch if nessary and dont need to get Writing which will speed us up considerably. If we do C I think the only way another team could beat us is if they also had Marble and had commited themslves to getting the Oracle before they built their second City, which is realy realy extream. The downside to C is it that much less likley that we can get a Religion but this shouldn't be too critical we can likley get a GP out of the Oracle and take Theology someday or just followup with Writing and CoL after the Oracle. The advantage of D is that we can whip/chop a Library quickly and use that to mostly make up for the time spent on Writing.
What do the rest o your think? Dose anyone plan to do a simulation (that would be nice)Companions the creator seeks, not corpses, not herds and believers. Impaler, for the great lighthouse (your B), we need a normal lighthouse first, so we need to research fishing and sailing too.
For your C, it's better to first research mysticism, because it makes masonry faster.
I would vote for C and/or A if we have copper, if we don't it'll have to be B.no sig

Theirs no reason we cant try for it as well or atleast put ourselves in a good position to try for it, I find it comes quite a bit later then the Oracle and I can often get both (Monarch level) but it dose tie up a lot of hammers.
The Collosus is a better match with our Traits, if we were Philisophical I would be leaning that way as our first wonder. As it is LightHouse/Collosus/Oracle is quite ambitious and asking for more in the early game if we see an oportunity for it then shure we can try for it but I dont want to risk stretching too thin and getting out-expanded.Companions the creator seeks, not corpses, not herds and believers. I don't think we have enough forests for those three wonders anyway. There'll be enough other teams racing for the Oracle that the eventual owner isn't going to get a great tech out of it anyway. I seriously think we should ignore it entirely and focus on something more achiveable.

I'm leaning towards that opinion too. As nice as it would be to get Confucianism as the Chinese, going heavy religion isn't our civ's strength. Also being financial and thus destined to swim in money, courthouses don't seem much of a priority either.
Though I think we should research Mysticism next. No matter what tech path we choose next, Mysticism is always useful: to reduce Masonry research cost and to have at least something for culture.
