We definitely do need two Axemen. We shouldn't need to poprush a skirm unless VOx brings all 3 skirms to bear - an Archer vs Skirm in city is a 0% odd battle - the chance of damaging the unit enough to give the 2nd archer a winning chance is really quite low. I wouldn't risk fighting off 3 archers though.
Excellent, we agree then. 2 axes in EotS after the settler

Incidently, it's unlikely that Vox will bring all 3 archers to bear on us for at least a little while, since one of those archers is badly wounded. Even if it got 2 xp and thus a promo, it would take several turns to heal out in the wild.

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

It would have gotten a promotion, IIRC. Which puts it at 2/3, or 3(?) turns from being full health while still in their own territory.

But it doesn't matter. We can have at least one axe before they can reach us, maybe even have the second one ready too.

I would love to have a thread with the military equivalent to Blake's short term domestic plans. Something that outlines our general strategy for Vox and outlines our contingent plans for the short term.
          Any takers?

Hrm... that's technically my job, innit?

            Um...

            Build catapults.
            Builds some more.
            March to the voice.
            Bombard.
            Kill.
            END.

I'll ponder posting something better than that soon. Specifically, perhaps, plans to deal with the (likely) counter-choke by 2-3 Voxian archers.

Real soon, actually, since it's Friday afternoon

I see three key terrain tiles in terms of defending vs a counter-choke:

              1) The forest tile 887 of winestrom (will be 6 of the new city, right?)

              2) The desert hill 47 of winestrom (the road hub, which will be adjacent to both farmed floodplain tiles - one of which has yet to be farmed, obviously).

              3) Whatever tile worker II is on.

Another possibly key tile is the hill 6 of winestrom.

              Units needed: 2 axes + 2 skirmishers

1 skirm to defend the new city
1 skirm to fort on the forest tile
2 axes to sit on the desert hill. Any incursion, they kill.

edit: I will post this as a new thread. And I expect some of our brighter minds will rip it to shreds
