I don't mind Winestorm...but doesn't it give away information to those that haven't yet seen our terrain?

We could say we misspelt Windstorm, and the name kind of stuck....

...but I'm not sure people would believe us!

Btw, "strom" as blake wrote it, is close to ström/stroem which kind of means river aswell..

Good that there's another support for Winestrom!
I wouldn't worry about giving away "strategic" information on non-strategic resources - it's only wine, and once we have trade connection it'll be visible in diplo screen. Anyway later we can mess with peoples heads by naming a city "Nuclear Winter" .

                Winestrom is the winner!

Okay - top post (orders) updated - please check for accuracy and outstanding details...namely the best direction for SpineBreaker, and the build for Winestrom.

Hmm, head west, angling toward the coast if possible? That way, once we eventually have sailing and a port, we'll have cleared much of the darkness necessary to open trade routes...

I just took a look at the Banana shot, and it doesn't leave much mystery to the south-west. However, we might want to swing back that way after going north-west and finishing Writing - we could sign an Open Borders with AC and reveal/open the route right to their capital.

Right now I'm leaning moving 7 again, and leaving Winestrom on the smaller build - Skirmisher.

Winestrom - granary iirc, it wil be whipped alot. If start a skirm now, we start losing hammers put inot the build in 10 turns, so it is a waste under most circumstances.

I'm going from Blake's information in the Forum Guide thread:

                        Build Order:
The build order for a quad-floodplain city is very simple, max food, grow to size 4, whip granary.
While growing the cities will invest hammers into a skirmisher, the skirmisher can be poprushed in an emergency but it is best not to as this significantly delays the development of the city.

axe maybe? I take it that will be a better unit when it comes to attacking The Voice, and as we can't whip until size 2 we could get either the skirm or axe on the same turn, only difference is overflow...

I think the question is how many turns until size 4? If it's around 25, then Skirmisher, if closer to 35, Axe.

                            Or am I missing something?

Well, if we somehow come under pressure at Wineström, and we have to whip a unit there, the limiting factor isn't the amount of hammers we can accumulate between then and now, it is the amount fo time it takes to reach 2 pop.

And I think it is 18 turns to size 4, and only 7 turns to size 2...so in 7 turns we would have 7 hammers accumulated towards the axe and wopuld be able to pop rush it at any time...

While I would also prefer to have an Axe over another Skirmisher, I think it is more important to finish the unit as quick as possible after reaching size 4 so that the granary can be built and Blake can get us onto the whole whipping thing. That being the case, finishing the Skirm in 7 turns is better than finishing the Axe in 17 turns. Yes, assuming there isn't a threat by that time - but look at Vox - what can they do?
