Hmm...are we going to use the names of our old cities as names for the new ones, regardless of location, or are we going to try and name each city according to its' surroundings, eg Hurricane will be a decent production port that produces masses of gold, and Cyclone will be a city with tonnes of food etc?

(Personally I doubt it, as we only had 5 none coastal cities last game...though always best to check on peoples thoughts beforehand...)

Wow, we planned out our city names that well back then? I never noticed. I just thought we came up with cool storm-themed names.

We could go with "cold" storm type names for any cities founded in the south (Blizzard or somesuch for the Furs site, for instance) and warmer themes for areas around EotS. Tornado, Sandstorm (or better yet, the name of such a storm in a language native to areas that have sandstorms), Monsoon... etc.

Well no, we didn't plan any of the names. Blizzard was founded on a desert tile, fer christs' sake. I'm just wondering if we should name each city in this game similar to the cities in last game. So Hurricane in this game would be a city at the mouth of a river on the see, and not say a city surrounded by desert and hills; Arashi would be a city in a mountanous area and not founded on rolling plains etc.

Or juist name the cities as we feel is right

Prefer that to be a city surrounded by forests...

I like Sandstorm out of the ideas above.

Tell you what - if at least three people agree on another name prior to the save arriving, I'll go with their name, otherwise I'll go with City II for now and encourage the team to decide on a name. If by the following turn there isn't a decision on the name, I'll just arbitrarily choose a popular one*.

This gives the active players an early chance to come to a consensus and determine a city name, and if they can't then it will give everyone more time to hash it out.

*Not that it couldn't later be changed - it just isn't likely in my experience - it's like trying to unseat an incumbent.

Maybe something that combines alcohol and storms? Hurricane? The Spins?

Anyway, so we are moving worker I up to EotS to cottage? Sounds like a good idea to me.

And for what it's worth, I feel that naming the cities after their local terrain is a better option than trying to have them match up to the past. What if we just don't have city sites in this game that are similar to the last one? There really isn't much option there.

Winestorm! That's like a name a bunch of drunk stormian's would come up with! I love it!

Or... Winestrom which is nonsense (meaning something like "Big Wine Tree" or "The Strongest Wine" or something) but it looks pretty cool.... I think....

As long as we don't make it a trend and end up with "Cowstorm".....

                              That'd make GS look French

                              I think.
