I ignored cities built for settler blitz, cities that were captured and made into major GS cities.

I'm not sure what we could produce for the civilopedia though, as I don't know how much, or how little, space we have...

    • Gathering Storm was first formed by members of the Civilization 3 community, with many members originating from the strategy forum, and participated in the Play the World DemoGame (PTWDG), which started in December 1st, 2002.

Gathering Storm managed to survive through most of PTWDG, only succumbing to a 2v1 with both opponents having nukes, in the last war of the game. With the experience of the PTWDG, and with many members having experience in other demogames, Gathering Storm is looking forward to participating in the next Apolytonian Demogame.

how is that? We could greatly expand the history, if we had the space and the team wanted it.

      • My suggested edits, nothing substantive, just stylistic (replacements/additions in parentheses):

Gathering Storm was formed by members of the Civilization 3 community, with many members (drawn) from the strategy forum, and participated in the Play the World DemoGame, which started in 2002.

Gathering Storm managed to survive most of PTWDG (before falling to the combined might of two nuclear powers in the game's final war). (With members drawing on their experiences in PTWDG and other demogames), Gathering Storm is looking forward to (remaining a mainstay in the Apolyton DemoGame community).
I'm not sure anyone needs our blurb to remind them of the date PTWDG started, though I don't think it's bad to have in there. Just the year, or "late 2002," is plenty, and gives all the pertinent information without clutter. The acronym PTWDG will be plenty evident from its closeness to the full name and is only used a couple of times, so no need to introduce it immediately.

On the last sentence, projecting it past this particular game ties in better with the idea of our individual experience in multiple past demogames to give a sense of a permanent fixture on the DG landscape, which I think most, if not all, of us would like to see GS as.

Edit: I'm too dumb to get the strikethrough code to work, so I simply removed what I was replacing, and some unnecessary words.

        • For a civilopedia entry, I might go with a more thematic approach, rather than a "here's what we did in the past" recap. If I've got some time today, I'll write something up to show what I mean. Otherwise, there certainly isn't any harm in using what you guys have put together.

          • One other thing... maybe pull Inchon & Inchoff off the city list? They were named for a specific military operation - they have no "Storm" theme like the others.

            • Bolderberg shouldn't be so high on the list, it was more a joke as it is the place where I lived for over 20 years.

It has a storm connection, though. Translated it would become thundermountain. (or RollinThunderMountain)

              • This is all minutia anyway... I like your suggestion in the public forum, DeepO: release screenies of the start positions! Let the analysis begin!!

                That would rock.

                p.s. I PM'd Dominae. I haven't seen him around and since we're about to start, I figured a heads-up was a good idea.

                • DeepO, those cities are listed in order of founding, so I think it would be fair to leave them as is.

Hence why Inchon and Inchoff were included. And while they weren't "Storm" cities, they were "Stormian" cities.

                  • Gotta include Inchon and Inchoff!!!!

I friggin' LOVE the last version of the flag.

Krill / Solomwi's entry for the Civilopedia is excellent, although in the second version I wouldn't use both the words 'drawn' and 'drawing'... maybe the latter could be 'building'? (:chuckle: )

Ah, okay. I thought they were a proposition for our next bunch of cities, in which case the joke of Bolderberg became stale...

Good call. I added "drawn" second, based on Churchill's maxim that "short words are better, and old, short words best of all" and was too lazy to replace "drawing."
