This is for the SP, right?

        Continents
        large.
        temperate
medium sea level. Or low, to free more land. I would like to see if a team can manage the economy of a great -huge empire better than individual players did so far (even Yin believes that ICS is over in the early game). Not to mention that more land = more FoW = more barbs....

But I'm open to other possibilities.

          IMO
Map: Custom Continents or Terra - I like the fact that later in the game you have to choose between consolidating your old continent (by conquest perhaps) or colonizing a new one at the expense of some raging barbs.
Size: Huge (for long lasting fun!)
          Climate: Temperate
          Sea Level: Medium

Dear mods... Is possible to rename the threads to specify who is who?
And, folks... Post your thread with a little MP or SP in the title.

              Well, if it’s about MP...
I would prefer a standard size continent map (default to 7-8 civs, which is the case), temperate. Tropical can give a lot of defensive bonus, however… What more? Low sea-level (more land, less tension with real opponents… )

I'll buy that vote in exchange for funny pot-shots at a team of your choice.

We could make it official if you posted your opinions.

I'm going Terra for the decision-making process.
We got all the diplomatic fun of a Pangaea map,
plus the added fun of a New World that you have to get a piece of, while struggling with the barbs / wars / diplomacy on top of that

Standard because that usually fits 7 Civs, and we got 7 teams

Tropical for Rivers and Chops. More decision-making and commerce.

Change Medium sea-level to High sea-level so we have to make the pressing decisions about how to get more land sooner rather than later.

I'd like to put off the map choice until some of the more basic things are set up. I know a lot of teams are still discussing map styles, also.

Next week we'll have the 'official' thread of this, but of course feel free to discuss here.

While I cannot speak for The Horde, I will say that Omnistar lays out a very convincing case for the "Terra" map in this thread

I'm currently playing a Terra Map (my first one) and it is turning out to have some very interesting aspects. I like it.

Hey I just had idea, dunno if you'll like it but sounds fun to me.

We have some teams which are such strong RP characters, that even their starting terrain can be determined by their profile:
                          Code:
                          Team Terrain
                          -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                          Vox Not sure
                          The Horde Steppe!
Gathering Storm Near mountains or sea (where storms gather)
Team Alpha Centaurians	Somewhere we can grow xenoweed and other stuff for our xenobrew
Team Banana Next to banana-rich Jungle
Sarantium Hill on a sea/river coast, to build a glorious capital upon
The Mercenary Team Some hilly/mountainous/forested place - wild lands, wild warriors
                          -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                          How do you like?
-- What history has taught us is that people do not learn from history.
-- Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.

There's a big problem with Terra for MP: specifically, that by Astronomy many teams will be eliminated or relegated to losing. That "New World" will have no impact on play for several teams. That lowers the overall fun considerably. There's also no guarantee that every team will get some coastline - that would really suck for a landlocked nation.

This is flat-out wrong. Tropical increases jungle/floodplain and lowers polar ice/tundra. It has no effect on rivers or forests, since forests can exist on plains, grassland, or tundra.

I don't know that I agree with this. The teams that would "eliminate" other teams will have made choices that could curtail their expansion into the new world. This is part of the balanced choice that Terra provides. Additionally, a land locked team will have to make choices based upon getting access to the sea. I can see several layers of strategy that would go into eithier situation.

A team that is "losing", but has been able to get to Astronomy before any other could quickly turn their whole game around. Additionally, a team may choose to prepare for colonizing the new world and appear weak...only to have a significant presence in the new world.

Lots and lots of options that the Terra map opens up for increased strategy. Choices are the key for this map. I think it is incredibly well suited for a multiplayer DG.
