    My opinions remain consistent.

Printing Press- This is my choice because it will give an immediate impact of +22 Commerce.

With the continued priority being given to military units build queues won't have room for buildings or wonders so Philosophy (Angkor Wat,) Banking and Education won't have immediate impact.

Music- At this point it could be researched one step before Military Tradition. It provides no immediate impact.

Nationalism (and the Taj Mahal's Golden Age,) should wait until after we research Philosophy to gain the research bonus.

Gunpowder- For those who seek Gunpowder, let us take advantage of the research bonus of having Education before we research Gunpowder. So if you want Gunpowder vote Education at this time.

There has been concern expressed about naval superiority. We currently possess the most powerful naval unit (Galleons.) Nobody else can currently build Galleons.

Aztecs still need Astronomy. I would suspect they will give priority to Guilds and Civil Service.
Arabia and Rome still need Calendars so they are at least 2 steps (Calendars-Astronomy) away from Galleons.
Greece needs Machinery so they are at least 3 steps (Machinery-Optics-Astronomy) away.
France and India both needs Compass and Machinery so they are at least 4 steps (Compass-Machinery-Optics-Astronomy) away.

I don't think any of them will bee-line for Astronomy.
Yes, negotiations could take some time.

I'm voting Philosophy ; not because that tech is itself useful at the time (it's not), but because it's cheap (only 2 turns at current rate) and because it will evenually be needed for Liberalism (hopefully first for the free tech)

Liberalism will allow us the freedom and the happiness to pursue what ever interests the govt. of the day has.

We currently have a military advantage with knights, and after liberalism I would imagine Cossacks will soon follow  - we gotta get that smilie!

Do not get me wrong - military is good, but we need the coin, the science and the happiness to support it.

That way future generations will not curse us, if this ends up being a space race.

I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

Does the GA complete Nationalism or only part finish it?

I've voted P.Press because of the money and also because it opens up a nice tech for the Liberalism sling if we need to hurry here - my preferred free tech would be Chemistry.

While I agree with much our M.Finances saidand that Printing Press

is a very good tech, I stick on the way to Liberalism, because:

                1) It will give us a free tech (that can even be P. Press) unless we

                delay it;

                2) Free Speech will give us +2C/town (10 if it was now, more near

                and much more in awhile);

                3) Free Religion will give us about +40 research points imediately

and hapiness from our religions; it may look we are far from

happiness concerns, but we are not; we get 5 happy faces from

imported resources, if they go away before we work Religion, we

                are in trouble.

For these reasons, I vote Philosophie.

                Best regards,

I don't know if we'll need guns or free religion first, but Education is on the way to both...

Has anyone done the calculations for Banks. We get 23g from Paddyton alone so I rather think that the Free Speech/Free Religions are somewhat dwarfed by these sorts of gains.

To counter the argument that we have no free building capacity, I rather doubt this is the case. The war with India is nearing completion and new military builds will not even arrive on the scene there until the very end of the war when they will hardly be needed.

Given the comments in the financial thread, I think we are in no rush to gain Liberalism for the free tech bonus.

p.s. Moving now to Liberalism delays Banking - and by implication Banks, by 15+ turns. Going Banking first delays Liberalism by just three turns. My guess the delay to banking will cost us 15 x 100g = 1500g!!

I did the calculations for Banks and others, as I couldn't play MOI

                            without.

Is the war nearing completion? Good to ear. I just see Indians had

7 cities when war began, and now they have 4.

And we all can see just knights were built to the war, not a single

defender, not one even in the build queue. No time yet to do it.

But they are needed (our new cities are close the Astecs, Greeks

and French) and requested by MOD; they shall be built before

                            banks.

As can be seen, only the fleging cities, Povo Este,MTT and

Bananaburg are free of military duties.

So, the "delay" to Banking is not a "delay" to Banks.

A delay to Liberalism, that would be a real delay: free tech, free

speech and free religion do not need cities'work to give profit.

                            Best regards,

I was comparing the 15 turn delay to Banking to a three turn delay to

                              Philosophy (no gain)
Education (half the gain of banks for 3 turns) + 3 turn gain of Oxford
Liberalism - 3 turn gain of 10% science + 10g from Towns for three turns (or is that 20g)
Printing Press - 3 turn gain of +1gpt/village

Acquiring Banking 15 turns earlier will give +50% gold to those cities free to build them in this period which should include the three you mention, Bananaburg, Berlin, Apolyton and Lake. I would have thought that the military garrison builds of the latter three can be adequately taken by Rubygrad and Iron Tusks.
