  • Concordian Armed Forces - Term VI, VII & VIII

The Ministry of Defence stands ready to serve and protect the Honour and Glory of Concordia.

We will fight in the lands of our enemies, and stand by our allies.

The rosters of the Concordian Armed Forces is a fluent chart, and can be found on the relevant save for that relevant year.

For peace we sing of hope and joy
For war we sing of blood and guts
For peace will bring us life and soil
For war will bring us death and toil

    Concordian Armed Forces - Staff

    Mr President Nugog,

I hereby present to you my staff for your approval.

Colonel Chrisius Maximus, Hero of Concordia, winner of the Battle of Bombay. Col. Chris will head up the College of Strategic Studies and War.

Captain Ljube, the good Captain is a master at the art of war, and will work closely with myself in tactical matters.

Captain James, the good captain is also quite proficient at the art of war, and will work in the Nation, touring various barracks, units in the field and will head up the Concordian Armed Forces Inspectorate. He will be reporting to me directly in these matters.

I have also been intouch with Marshal Rubychaser, he has deemed that he may leave his mining operations for a few years and come back and see in what way he can assist the Concordian Armed Forces.

        1) It looks like we are a little weak in Bombay. We haven't really brought any defenders there (except the spear) so I would suggest we get some quickly. Preference would be for Longbow but Crossbow would also make a big difference if we get a visit from Swords, Axes (or even Macemen)

        2) Rather that move forces by land to the next target. I assume we are planning next to invest Delhi. It's probably well defended so might need a larger force to take it. Perhaps it might make sense to promote one or two junior (5-10 XP) city raider swords to maces to give that extra punch. CR II maces are better at getting into cities than the expensive Knights and Knights get a little edgy if there are Spearmen around

        3) I think army organisation needs to be rethought in the long run. We will effectively have three "centres" in the near future (Concordia/Discordia/colonies) and my gut feel is that the larger more experienced/advanced force will be needed in Discordia for the completion of negotiations with Gandhi and longer term arrangements with Monty.

        4) Do we want to bring an ally into the war. It will help to draw fire and should hasten the removal of cultural and happiness pressures on our new cities. Also, I can't see it helping our ally since they will be next on the list and any cities they capture will be easy to take for ourselves. The fighting should also relieve them of a little part of their large army.

My gut feel is that we probably don't want an ally but I thought to raise the question

        5) I assume that we do not intend to pillage - unless we want to replace an improvement with something better

        6) Do galleons only move 4? I thought we have the circumnavigation bonus?

        7) I assume we are planning a second war. Would it be too much to ask for a second resolution? Much easier to justify this war because of unhappiness/cultural pressures.
        1. The force in Bombay is quite sufficient to ward off any attackers that India can mount at this time.

Do you forsee the Aztecs declaring war on us?

        2. the invasion force for Dehli was brought in by sea. This contains 4 cats, several knights, swords, chariot with medic, and war elephant. We will have one maceman available.

        3. at this time we are producing a formable force of knights, as you can see from the production lines. the matter of Ghandi will be finalized very soon. as to future issues and negotiations, a strong mobile force can only be to our benefit.

        4. to bring an allie in to this war with Ghandi could only delay its end or other such situation. especially if we have to wait them getting to the scene.

        5. pillage of certain lands will atke place, but not around Bombay or Dehli, which we are keeping.

        6. I do not have the save open, but will check that matter sometime for you.

        7. the matter of further wars and where and who is indeed a matter for the Lord High President and the Mighty Citizens of Concordia. I would be safe in saying that the people will indeed be notified, and given their right to vote on any such resolution when and if that matter should arise.

Well said and very true General Scot.

          The nation decides!
I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

Estimated needs for completion of Indian expedition?

            Minister Paddy the Scot,

I am inquiring as to the expected needs for completion of the Indian Expedition.

From a direct financial perspective will you be requesting additional funds for the upgrade of troops?

From a larger production perspective what is the expected needs? There are currently 7 Knights in production. What additional forces are you requesting be produced? This becomes important in other areas. If there will be no available production to build Banks in the next 10 turns, Banking technology loses a lot of immediate research value.

Were the current plans drawn up with the expectation of Gunpowder being availble or without? The citizens may support Gunpowder research if they know the success of the Indian Expedition depends on it.

In a longer term sense, knowing how many Knights we will hope to have will let us know how much we need to save to upgrade them all to Cossacks.

Obviously final actual production/needs will depends on how events unfold. They may turn out worse or hopefully better than planned.

Depending on the immediate and longer term upgrade needs I will be considering increasing the current science rate.

Thank you for your time and assistance in this matter,

            Chuckman
            Minister of Finance

the original battle plan called for a 3 stage buildup of troops

that allowed a nice two front assault on India

that plan was taken and destroyed the day that the Aztecs invaded India, and in turn threatened our objectives

from that moment we have been doing some calculations on the run, as happens in the field of battle

at this time I have asked that Knights continue to come off the production lines, and that we build up a full battle squadron of 15. thus we may need to build 20 due to losses in this current war on india

as to the losses, I would not have expected such heavy casualties amongst the Knights, but now we do not have the luxury of a slow war on two fronts, now we must ride like the wind and smash india before the aztecs take to many prizes

in the original plan I also asked for units of longbow and catapults, and a further galleon... as stated this has changed a lot

I am not aware if you are current on the turn chats, but I had put forth a case for gunpowder and then chemistry
I would like to get to frigates as soon as possible
and that would allow muskets along the way

so the ministry is watching the tech queue closely

the battle for india will not drag, of that I can assure you

my goal is as ever to keep the casualties down as much as possible, yet win all battles with the speed of lightning

I will revisit this post in next 30 mins, as I must do some family matters...

                  edit:

Minister Chuckman, thank you for the gold you allowed for unit upgrade, I did utilize a portion of this at this time, and just may use the remianing portion in the coming turns... I am still working on this matter...

I will not be requesting any further funds for unit upgrades

as to spending money upgrading the knights to cossacks, at this time I am not really considering such a matter

you may note that I am not looking to bring many of our older guard units into the next generation of upgrades, and would not be looking to do this for some time if ever

Captain James has already presented plans for the relocation and redistribution of military assets, thus allowing us greater flexibility in their use. more on this matter at a later stage

I hope that I have now addressed all of your concerns, and look forward to further correspondence with you soon

Do we have many problems if the Aztecs take some "prizes". It's not as if they are going to keep them for long if we want them and we benefit because of the losses that both India and Aztecs sustain while fighting each other.

In other words, it allows us to keep more of our forces for the bigger battle against the Aztecs. Surely a good thing.

                            Concordian Armed Forces Inspectorate Report

We have 3 cities that have no units on garrison duty.

                            Apolyton
                            Zoidburg
                            Sherrinville

We also have many units on Barbarian Patrol. Of these most are Chariots and Horse Archers. I will submit a full rotation of units so that these "fast movers" can be stationed at junction points along our highways, not camped in the widerness. This rotation will cause several cities to be without garrisons until said units arrive on location in the badlands. As we are currently at war, and as garrison troops are needed to assure the population of their safety, rotations would not be taking place until the present War with India has been completed.

I understand that the culture spread from Bananaburg and Zoidburg will release some of the units of Barbarian Patrol, but at this time I do not know exactly which ones.

Minister fed1943 has expressed a need for the garrisons to be filled A.S.A.P. Allowing for units to be released when the culture expands, and for unit rotation, we may still need to produce another unit to meet garrison rosters.

it must be noted that at this time I have a war with India, not with the Aztecs

and that the Aztecs are in many ways acting like allies

I have no Resolution, orders, or such for a war on the Aztecs

it is true that a war on the Aztecs is indeed being studied, as is a war upon every known nation, as well as defensive plans if any were to dare to touch our lands but these matters are private to the Staff of the Concordian Armed forces
