  • Poll: Technology 1523AD

I initiate this poll as is my right as a citizen. I hope it is useful for the Term V government if they conduct another turnchat before the transition to Term VI. I will use it in Term VI if I am certified by the courts as Minister of Finance.

I strongly advocate that we take a shot at Islam. We will very likely adopt a religion to gain the benefits of Organized Religion and Vassalage. A religion founded within our borders will have a better change of automatically spreading reducing the number of missionaries we will need to construct. We will gain a financial benefit when we construct the Masjid al-Haram. (Hopefully Islam will found in a city where we can/want to build Wall Street.)

We would be in a race against India (if they are even researching it.) They have only 7 cities most of which are marginal financially. We can beat them to it. We should try.

All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

A religion would be good, but that would mean shifting goals and production (producing vast amounts of missionaries to spread the world of Allah to the unwashed heathens). We´re relatively close to Liberalism and then we can let our people choose whatever they want to worship.

Besides we´re so much in the lead we need a major catastrophy to lose...

Voted Civil Service, for chain farm, macemen and the path to

                Education and Liberalism.

And please note that to found Islam do not give gold, because we

                cannot train a GProphet.

                Best regards,

I think the shrine gold is something that we would expect to have to wait for. I’m more interested here in the unlocking of the Spiral Minaret wonder which will produce gold.

I’ll post elsewhere on a separate “using religion” thread.

                    Where's the darn option?

Anyway, I like the option of spending one turn on Theology to open up the possibility, however slight that our next (first?) great person would produce half the beakers needed for DR before someone else researches DR.

But at full price I'd want Civil Service instead.

Sprial Minartet would be a waste to build at this point; we probably won't establish a state religion at all in this game.

Now the wonder that results in priests yielding an extra hammer would have been great but I think it's been built somewhere so we'll have to conquer it.
