  • ANNOUNCEMENT: Order in the Chat room!!

These last few chats have felt radically less productive than before. It feels like we´re just goofing around and have lengthy confused discussions about things we should´ve discussed between chats...

Right now I´m very bored with this game and I´ve been extremely restless during the last few chats... Something needs to be done or I´ll have to step down as Prez.

So, after discussions with some of my ministers I´ve come up with some new rules for the turnchats.

    • *Chat starts on time. If it´s announced 10 AM, it starts 10 AM. 10.15 at the latest.

*No lengthy discussions on subjects that should´ve been discussed before the chat.

*Ministers must come prepared to chat. All ministers are therefore urged to have a short pre-chat (on MSN or equivalent) before the turnchat so that issues can be resolved here and NOT during the turnchat!!

*Less silliness and off topic chat! I know I can be silly with the best of them and I take my share of the blame here...

*During peace a turn shouldn´t take more than 30 mins. In war time up to 1 hour. This is however meant to be a guideline and by no means set in stone.

*The maximum length of the chat shall be posted in the turnchat thread

    All sounds good Mr. President!!!

I presume point 5 is a guideline to be aimed for, only and not a hard and fast rule??

Can I request that the ministers post as to when, and where, these pre-chat chats are happening?

Otherwise it seems pointless for any non-ministerial players to turn up at the chats, if we are not to voice our opinions, or to quietly accept when our opinions are not listened to.

As we currently have very few people actually turning up to the chats - and I know that I've only been to a few, and I was late for the last one (misread the start time), it seems important, to me anyway, that the people who attend the chats have some input.

Otherwise why should we turn up?

This is not, in any way, meant to be an attack or slight, against any current or past players

I just, honestly, cannot see the point of being at the chat if I cannot argue my point of view at any stage.
I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

Nugog, this is by no meant as a gag for the citizens participating in the chat. It´s just a feeling I have had lately. We don´t get much done in the chats and we´re goofing around too much. This is partly my fault for not running a tighter ship, but of course can we discuss things (in length if demanded) in the turnchats.

I think Nugog brings up a very valid point. We don't want to make citizens feel unwelcome, in fact we want to encourage more people to attend the turn chats. This is after all a Democracy Game and we need our citizens opinions before, during and after a turn chat. It's everyone's game not just the Ministers.

Indeed, thanks for raising that point Nugog, and thanks for the chat last night!!

Let us hope the pre-chat chat may smooth the way for the turn chat. Coupled with more threads, polls and posts we should now be able to achieve the maximum input from the citizens of Concordia while still keeping the turn chat flowing at a reasonable rate.

Zoid I did not mean to imply that the government was trying to muzzle/mute the people.

My thought was that by having a "pre-chat", where the lengthy discussions were held, then the official turn chats could flow much faster/easier.

As in any public meeting the government is not bound to listen to the people, and some times are not wise too!

However it is better IMO to hear the public in a public forum, like these, and the pre-chats, rather than them yelling from the public gallery in the parliment!
