I thought a separate thread might be desirable here to start airing some views early on long-term alliances of peaceful relationships with the other nations. Those we know include Napoleon, Gandhi and Montezuma although we also know that Alexander and the Americans were there at some stage. It has also been suggested that Cyrus is, or was, around at some time on that island.
Now the fact that Athens and Washington are owned by Aztecs and France respectively suggests that both Greece and America have been overrun. However, we have no conclusive proof of this so will just have to see what our explorers find. Of the three nations, France looks to be the clear powerhouse there but is technologically weak while India looks to be the local tech leader (although I have no details on Aztecs).
It seems that relations between these civilisation is irretrievable. They will remain as worst enemies unless they choose to make us their worst enemy. So the question is therefore which side we wish to choose as our long term trading partner. Which will we gain most from and which is the greatest threat to us.
At the moment, I’d argue in favour or keeping relations with France healthy. Except now we have to make them healthy because, well I don’t need to explain why the French have a problem with us. If the worst comes to the worst – and the Aztecs clearly have the capacity for conquest - then we could even find ourselves with no trade at all from this continent thus rendering Astronomy almost useless.
Here’s to a coherent international strategy. If we fail here, then we will have no choice but to open their cities to trade through force since the long term prospect of a shared continent between a friendly France and Aztec nation and widespread religion is something that does not bear thinking about.
