Anyone else with Amazon?

I just want to thank all you people who canceled their orders with Amazon. I originally got a delay notice but my copy of Civ 4 has shipped and is almost here. It should be here by this weekend or monday.

I called Amazon yesterday (Oct 27) to find out what the deal was. The guy told me it shipped Oct 28. I asked if he went into the future to find that out.

He put me on hold, then came back on and said it shipped Oct 26. We argued for a while, then I told him if I didn't have it by today Oct 28 I would return it at their cost.

There site finally shows that it shipped Oct 27 and should be delivered Oct 29. That stinks, I really wanted to play it tonight. I may still buy it at a store after work, then refuse the package tomorrow.

Mine has been shipped, but it is still showing it has been "Accepted" in Kentucky, though it hasn't seemed to leave from the warehouse .

Hopefully it doesn't take another week!

Amazon has a customer phone number? I've never seen it on their site. I wonder if I should call instead of relying on email.

They did not actually have a phone number. What they had was a box that said "have someone call me". Apparently this box only appears if your order status is in the process of shipping but no tracking number is listed. It no longer appears for me.

And now UPS says it will be delivered on Monday Oct 31. Amazon can kiss my arse. I'm going to buy it after work, then refuse the shipment or return it at their cost.

The sad thing is that I now remember having the same problem with Amazon and pre-ordering Civ III. It still had not shipped two days after release, so I bought it at a store and cancelled my Amazon order. Never again will make this mistake (unless I forget again!).

... no more information from Amazon. Just says they sent info to USPS. I went to USPS and they said that it was "Accepted". Hopefully it's moving along the US and this evening they'll have more info!

Just got an email from Amazon. They have generously upgraded me to "2 day shipping" from "super saver shipping" as a "one time event" to compensate for "my lack of understanding concerning order/ship dates"

Wonderful. Is the special edition copy really worth it? I could go buy it at Best Buy right now- just not the special edition.

This stuff must only happen to you guys that worry about it. I don't care so much when it ships and now my tracking page says they attempted delivery, but I was asleep then. I guess it's time to go to the post office and pick it up.
