Anyone else with Amazon?

    Ordered mine on Oct. 4, has a shipping estimate of Oct. 24 with two-day shipping (free for Amazon Prime) and est. delivery date of Oct. 26. But no notice of shipping yet, nor does it say shipping soon which it usually does before it ships.

    I note that the product page says: "This item is not available immediately to ship," and the availability page says usually ships within 2 to 3 days.

    I will say that frequently if I order two day delivery the item ends up getting shipped out the next day and sent overnight (getting it on the same day as if it had shipped at the proper time).

      I ordered the presell edition from Amazon and am in the same boat as everyone else. Funny thing though, I sent them an email asking about the delay in availability. Their reply concerned the strategy guide (which I also had ordered but was due to ship separately in December)! Sent them another message asking for clarification. However, my presell edition now shows estimated shipping date of 10/29.

        Well, the local EB had it, and a 'Special Edition' = 'Presell Edition' to boot, so I picked it up and cancelled the Amazon.com order. I did get the Francais Tech Tree too, but oh well, c'est la vie, I'll wait for them to send me an English copy. Guess this is a good way to brush up on my very rusty French...

          Shipment #1: Shipping Soon We are preparing these items for shipment and this portion of your order cannot be canceled or changed. Need information on returning an item?

          Hopefully this is good. I saw it because I was actually going to cancel and order from a vendor that seemed capable of actually delivering the product, since Amazon is apparently questionable in that regard based on comments in this thread and the correspondence that other folks have posted.

            Good news. That is standard "Amazonese" for "We've got the product and are putting it in a box for you". Generally will ship that day, or sometimes the next.

            Mine hasn't gotten there yet, hopefully soon...

                  Crap... I went around, no one has Civ4 (one case the guy was like wha...) or sold out. The funny part was I canceled my Amazon order. I ordered from there again (the presell edition) and the time it was supposed to come to me was QUICKER than before (ship 31st, arrive 2nd-4th, where before it just said arrive on the 4th)!!

                    I managed to pick up the special addition at EB games today (after canceling my amazon order yesterday).

                    I guess too many people pre-booked or something.

                    Funny thing was that it cost about the same.

                    Back to Civ 4.

                        Cancelled mine with Amazon before I left work and picked up a copy at Gamestop on the way home. My brother didn't cancel his before leaving and also picked one up on the way home. By the time he got home, his was being prepped for shipping. So it looks like Amazon orders are indeed getting filled.

                          My Amazon order "shipped" today (Oct 26). By shipped I mean that Amazon provided the order information. Amazon's status page estimates delivery on Oct. 26 as well, which as you might imagine it was not. 2-day ship due to Amazon Prime.

                          So good thing it is on its way but I fear I will not receive it prior to the weekend which is too bad.

                            I emailed Amazon when they gave me an estimated arrival date of Nov. 7. Asked why it was taking 2 weeks to ship it. They said their copies weren't even arriving until the 26th and would send it out immediately. Not sure what preorder means to the game distributor, but they should make sure companies like Amazon get these copies before local stores.

                            My copy is now scheduled to arrive between 28th to 31st.

                                they shipped mine late last night and it ticked through much of the shipping process last night....

                                ...is in the Bronx already, which is where they run the local delivery routes from to my end of Manhattan. I should have it when I get home from work (at, oh, nine or ten tonight ) So won't be able to do much with it until the weekend, but at least I should have it for the weekend.
