So - how do we want to handle the public forum for this game?

I assume we still want NO "formal" contact and negotiations out-of-game until in-game contact is made.

But what about the public forum, and statements by teams, posturing, etc.

The other civ4 demo game has a very, very, very quiet public forum. Do we want this game to be different, given that on an archaepelago map, it may actually take longer for teams to meet? Do we want to loosen the rules to spice things up a bit?

Thought I would ask and get the discussion going. Will probably require a poll sooner or later.
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.

I (personally) would support looser rules regarding the public forum - however this needs to be balanced with the need to not share "private" info before contact is made.
I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

      Did someone say "posturing'?

I don't really think the archaepelago setting is going to be the limiting factor for contact as much as the huge setting.

As far as the forum, I would say let it hang loose.

"Pre-contact" conspericys (tech path arrangments, double team arrangements, etc...) of course should be banned.

Due to the sheer amount of teams this forum could be quite interesting if it was openned immediately. Image PTWDG or C3CDG without any of the "****" so to speak

The Goonies would like to post something strictly from a RP perspective.

Do we have the go ahead on this? Mods?

civstats cives a lot of information about any civ, so rules could be a little bit relaxed.

Those who have posted seem to want the ability to post RP and the like, but obviously no 'hard' in-game information, and clearly, as pinchak has suggested, not communication prior to meeting in-game. I like Niessuh's term: "a little bit relaxed".

Would be good to hear from some others.

Go for it, a little fun harmless banter never hurt anyone.

I kinda get the feeling this game is dead.

I suggest we keep the same teams and Civs but start anew with BTS.

Elucidus is experiencing some technical issues - which hopefully will be resolved soon - then game on!

Yes, not dead at all. Found out a virus infected my network. Complicated things.
