Exiting straight to desktop is widely held to cause problems on the host server to do with leaving ghost open connections that cause trouble amongst other things. I believe that no definitive proof exists but most pitboss hosts actively encourage quitting to main menu.

That happens from time to time. The only thing to do is wait and try again. I think it's more of a bug in Pitboss than firewall problems...

If I understand correctly, it happens with players who have slower connections, or who have routers with relatively slow connections to their desktop/laptop, or players who are very far apart (particularly when both players are far apart from the host - traffic goes Player1->Host->Player2). It causes a timeout that is interpreted as a firewall glitch.

This times, it's systematic : each time Huygen (Chuckman) is connecting my bandwith falls dramatically, blocking my other internet activities. In all cases I have to stop the game and restart it.

It would be great if someone (Firaxis ?) could find a solution for this problem, and, more close of our possibilities, if Chuckman improves his connexion

AFTER : i stopped the CivStats uploader (no effect on the bandwidth), and then stopped and restarted the game

I just show you what happens when you connect. You didn't answer my question : what kind of internet connection you have, did you ?

Can you reasonably improve it ?

Otherwise it's not a drama for me to restart the game every two days
