The setting will change the game. There will be less contact in the early game, more room to expand before you hit your neighbours, that sort of thing. But we are not playing on pangaea or continents, so the impact will be lessened. I can go with it if others are up for it. Just don't start griping at turn 60 about the map, and why we are playing on such a large one for 11 civs. If we gripe, we gripe now, or move on.

OMFG, you have to to kidding.
First of all, that wasn't the email I received. You see that email went out in April something and I didn't come on board until after the fact. Also the settings I got looked nothing like what you have there...understand my point?
Secondly, the email I had was a link, a link to a thread that no longer exists. Now it is possible I read it wrong, or transcribed it onto my little yellow sticky wrong. And if this is a big deal, send me the map you want to play on and I will set up the game. Otherwise, play on.
A few teams are on there own islands, you know, as requested...they won't have contact nearly as quick as the ones who share a continent.
Life doesn't have to be this difficult.Yours in gaming,

Let's just play, huge vs large with 11 teams i don't care. Frankly large/medium sea level probably wouldn't fit the 11 teams well anyway.
Curious, does everyone have visibility over a little swath of land that has some floodplains in it, far from their capital? I do ...<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

At this point I am just anxious to play.
Besides, Huge is too big for 18 teams. Actually, on the ladder we're playing 5v5-6v6 on Standart but that's of course is too little for FFA. But IMHO Large is more than enough.Knowledge is Power

Im with Luc on this one, play on or find someone who wants to make the map.
If I were him, I would be a lot less eloquent about it.........*"Winning is still the goal, and we cannot win if we lose (gawd, that was brilliant - you can quote me on that if you want. And con - I don't want to see that in your sig."- Beta
