no disrespect to Snoop, but we need to look for a more stable place for this game to be located...

my understanding Snoop offered his services as a temporary place while we looked

I do not believe we have moved on since then

any suggestions?

Actually this has been very stable recently

And to be fair - we are light years ahead of where we would have been if this was being played as a PBEM.

That is true - he very kindly agreed to host this game until we found another host.

How about some form of paid hosting? Does it work on these kinds of games? If it's stabile and not too expensive I'm willing to chip in. If we divide the cost among us it doesn't have to be more a $1/month (or even less). The problem is of course we need someone who knows Civ and how to set up the game properly...

All you have to do is find someone with a decent computer on brooadband or dsl that keeps it on all the time, and is willing to host.

I would do it but with 3 kids constantly doing something or another, my machine gets rebooted 3, 4 , 5 times a day.

Whne someone does reboot, all they have to do is start up the hosting proigram again basically.

I can throw 10 bucks into a paypal account so someone can find hosting but Im not really sure thats what we need or if that will even work.

I don't know what is wrong with my dsl modem, but something clearly is ... I may be switching to cable at some point soon, which would fix the problem; if I don't i'll ask my dsl company for a new modem

I think DSL modems just aren't made to be up 24/7 for years, and this one has been ...

I'm rather surprised it went down so quickly though, I was online for a few hours last night with no problems.

Is Elucidus back and running? I thought I saw him post a while back that he might have fixed his issues ... that is the best solution, if he has

Indeed, I have not been home since it was reported the second time (it was up last night for a few hours at least). Work is sort of busy right now but hopefully i'll be home by 8pm or 9pm my time (gmt-6) to fix it.
