I don't see a problem with 4 Carthage players if that's the civ that teams wanted, I don't see a need to change because others have chosen the same, I'm sure they'll all be played differently anyway.

I see no reason to choose civs/leaders again just because the map is the incorrect one.

We voted to allow multiple instances of the same civ, and that's what we got. Don't see any problem there.

Wow, I expected most people to vote the third option considering it doesn't hurt anything.

If the concern is that last min changes may hold up this game even longer, we could put a time limit on it... say 3 days?

              4 Hannables <---

The fact that we are having a restart anyway because of the map would allow for this without any exploits, or further delay.

I will also add that since we went with double civs allowed, there should have at least been a posting of what civs were chosen, as they were chosen, so that a team that didn't want to be "just another hannible" could pick something else.

Please consider changing your vote to #3. It hurts nothing.

                1. As with all considerations, this needs to be a team vote, not a player vote. :sigh:

                2. Pinchak, the issue is that now that teams are known, there is strategy in changing your leader (say, to one that gets mysticism to start with, or to one that does not get mysticism to start with, based on the probability of getting a religion). I certainly do not want people changing their leaders at this point; we voted to allow this, and this is what happened

                  Valid point about myst.

There could be a condition that you cannot change to a civ that starts with myst.

multiple instances of the same civ

I find it's against the spirit of this game. Why not set up a Civ II game, where all the civs were the same ?

I have no problem with other teams being the same civ, but there should be some sort of option if a team doesn't want to share a civ.

My opinión is that random selection of civs is the best selection you can do Dealing with an undiscovered land is one of the best parts of the game. Dealing with an unknown civ too.
