Discussing The Rules -> Game Moderator/Administrator

I guess it's time to start discussing the rules in more depth.

First in the menu is: Game Moderator/Administrator

I think moderator's role shouldn't just be holding the password and starting/stopping PitBoss.

Those are my thoughts:

We go with two moderators, a primary and a secondary, backup moderator.

The primary moderator will be responsible for several things, including holding the admin password, keeping copies of all turns played for archiving/backup/cheating purposes, enforcing the general rules set for the game, refereeing disputes between teams/players, tracking the game progress.

The secondary, backup moderator should also hold the admin password in the case the primary moderator loses it and replacing him/her in the case of absence.

Both moderators should not participate in the game or being members of any of the teams, and should enjoy the respect and the trust of the people participating in this game.

It is also strongly advised that the primary moderator would host the game too.

I'd also suggest that both of the mods have access to all of the private fora here (and PALs forum if they choose to use a forum on the ladder forum).

Totally agree on all counts. Is there going to be a problem in finding moderators?

I do not see a need to have backups of every single turn anywhere but on the host computer, unless you're counting the host as a mod... which I would agree with 100% being the primary mod

Both mods should have access to private fora. It makes it a lot easier to proactively answer questions and address potential issues.

Elucidus volunteered to host a while back. Not sure if people still want that or not? It's not absolutely necessary for the admins to be hosting the game.

There is really no need to have each and every turn sent to moderators - if there are any troubles then specific turn saves can be sent around as requested. Besides, the major exploit from PBEM's (reloading) will be a non-issue. IMHO the most frequent problem that will crop up will be double-moves, and they can be easily monitored using civstats anyway.
